Black Wall Command Center
"Are you sure you want to go find that guy? He's not exactly easy to deal with," Ducao said, looking at Reina in surprise. "Rosa tried talking to him twice before, and both times ended in a fallout."
"How would I know if I don't give it a shot? You Earth Stars and we Solaris Stars have different ways of handling things. Who knows, I might succeed," Reina shrugged. "Besides, don't you want to know what's going on with that crocodile?"
Ducao pondered for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, go ahead and give it a try."
This war fanatic indeed hoped that Reina could convince Shasha. With such a strong ally, the strength of their Black Armored Legion would undoubtedly rise to new heights.
Thus, Reina naturally sought out Shasha, only to find him playing video games with Soton?!
"If you die, don't come asking me for help! I've finally saved up some points and you're just borrowing them all!"
"I don't want to either! Sometimes my fingers just can't hit the buttons in time."
"Damn it, why don't you jump? Is there anyone who plays like this against BSS?"
"Hehehe."
By the end of the game, all that was left was silly laughter. Shasha simply tossed the controller aside and let Soton play on his own.
"You act like we're not on the brink of disaster! How can you be so relaxed?" Reina shot an annoyed glare at Shasha.
Shasha ignored Reina's complaints, casually grabbing a can of soda and tossing a liter one to Soton. After taking a sip, he said, "Well, it hasn't even started yet. Are you really expecting us to fight a space defense battle? The shipborne astronauts aren't even at that level yet. Earth is still in the pre-nuclear era."
Reina sighed; Shasha's words were indeed reflective of the current situation. Their strategic deployments were centered around the Tao Tie invasion of Earth. "Regardless, this battle is inevitable. I'm here to ask you if you're willing to join Xiong Bing Lian. Just tell me what you want, and I'll fight for it."
Shasha raised an eyebrow at her words. "Is that why you're the queen? Your way of thinking is different. Why not consider hiring me instead? I can work for you but won't be restricted in my freedom."
“Hiring?!” Reina's voice suddenly shot up an octave, her face filled with anger. “Do you have no sense of national duty left? This is a time of national crisis! Shouldn't you be contributing your strength?”
Honestly, Shasha didn't really care about national duty in this universe. First of all, he wasn't a 'local.' Secondly, humans were indeed profit-driven creatures, inherently inclined to seek benefits and avoid harm. Moreover, if he helped them for free, they would think it was expected of him. Isn't there a saying? Don't mistake politeness for kindness.
He waved his hand dismissively. “Don't pressure me with this kind of thing. You Solaris Star could have stayed out of it from the beginning; it's your own meddling that brought you here. If you hadn't thought of it, would you have come? Don't forget my identity.”
Reina paused, realizing that this guy prided himself on being a Timewalker; who knew where he would go in the future? National duty really shouldn't be something he spoke about. After a moment, she sighed in disappointment. “Alright, it seems I've failed.”
Shasha smiled slightly. “You might want to consider my proposal; think of it as mutual benefit.”
Reina rolled her eyes at his words and turned to leave. Just as she reached the door, she suddenly remembered something else and turned back to ask, “About that crocodile, I think you should give an explanation. You know if you brazenly take him out on the streets, quite a few people with heart conditions might get scared to death. Plus, your current appearance isn't suitable for showing your face in public.”
Shasha watched Reina leave, stroking his chin thoughtfully. “That is indeed a problem. But when the war starts, who will have the mind to care about these things?”
Thinking this, he shrugged nonchalantly and continued to battle with Soton using his controller.
Back at Giant Gorge, Reina relayed her conversation with Shasha to Ducao. The General furrowed his brow but did not express dissatisfaction with Shasha's hiring proposal; instead, he appeared contemplative. “Actually, this isn't something we can't consider.”
Reina was surprised. “You really plan to do this?”
“As you said, national duty cannot bind him. To put it bluntly, even if all civilizations in this universe were to perish, he wouldn't care because he is merely an observer.”
Seeing the dejected look on Reina's face, Ducao spoke reassuringly. “In fact, hiring him is indeed a mutually beneficial approach. Given the urgency of the situation, we can't afford to be picky right now. I will discuss this matter personally with the higher-ups.”
Reina nodded and then brought up the issue of the crocodile again. “That Crocodile Man has been completely tamed by him now; if we throw him into battle, he would be a formidable weapon.”
Ducao agreed with a nod. “Indeed. We have checked his background information; he is the Nile god from ancient Egyptian mythology, also known as Crocodile God Soton. He should be a third-generation genetic product.”
Reina was taken aback by this revelation. “Third generation? Who could have created the third generation back on Earth?”
"Regardless of who it is, at least we now have an ally."
Ducao naturally did not mention going to talk to the leader about Shasha, and around Giant Gorge City, an unexpected guest arrived in Huang Village.
She possessed a breathtaking beauty, enchanting yet exuding an aura of danger at all times.
Her elongated ears and the black wings behind her made it clear that she was not a creature of Earth.
She surveyed the curious onlookers around her with disdain, her face showing annoyance. "Alright, the coordinates are indeed correct. Now that your Queen has arrived, why aren't you kneeling to receive me?"
The villagers watching the spectacle exchanged glances, each regarding her with looks of disbelief.
At the same time, a meteor named Nebula was hurtling through the star system towards Earth at high speed.
