"That's good!"
Suddenly, a voice echoed in agreement, and the massive projection of Morgana appeared opposite the Cross Throne. "The so-called laws of Holy Kaisa are nothing but a facade of justice. She will stop at nothing to eliminate me. Even if I am destroyed, humanity will at least have to pay for several cities. Is this justice? It's merely an excuse for this vile creature to commit murder!"
As Morgana's projection emerged, the situation gradually became more complicated.
It seemed that humanity was now faced with two choices: either reject this so-called justice or accept Kesha's terms.
Silence enveloped the scene, broken only by the sound of waves crashing against the shore. Shasha spoke again, "I stand by my words; I will handle Morgana myself. There is no need for you to involve Nebula."
Morgana did not mock Shasha's audacity; after all, Shasha's choice was advantageous for her.
Kesha cast a meaningful glance at Shasha, maintaining her languid tone. "Since you insist on taking on this responsibility, what reason do I have to refuse? However, if in the future you fail to meet my expectations, then justice will still come."
With that, she glanced at Shiyan, who was quietly relieved nearby, and said with a half-smile, "To prove that you can achieve what you claim in the future, you must accept Nebula's supervision."
Holy Kaisa departed, leaving Shiyan beside Shasha.
The crisis seemed to have been averted, but in reality, it had not; after all, Earth was constantly under the threat of Tao Tie.
Shasha now had an envoy by her side. Although she felt no immediate discomfort from it, others did not share her sentiment.
At least Reina's hostility toward Shiyan was not solely due to their differing star systems and ideologies. As for the others, their animosity toward Shiyan stemmed from Kesha's earlier remarks.
Shiyan was self-aware and usually kept out of sight to avoid drawing ire.
However, Shasha found herself troubled about how to accommodate Shiyan. She did not understand Kesha's purpose in keeping Shiyan around; while supervision might be part of it, it certainly wasn't the only reason.
Shiyan could not reside in Super God Academy; thus, Shasha had no choice but to rent an apartment near the academy.
For now, matters concerning Nebula were temporarily set aside. As Tao Tie began its worldwide invasion, it wasn't just China that fell into chaos; the entire world was shrouded in the clouds of war.
At the forefront was the world's strongest nation, the United States. Initially aided by the Hate Alliance, they successfully repelled several waves of Tao Tie attacks. However, as heroes from that alliance were systematically assassinated, many heroes ceased to make appearances.
Upon hearing this news, Shasha couldn't help but wear a strange expression; it seemed that this Hate Alliance was a thinly veiled reference to the Avengers.
It seems that the worldview of this world has some commonalities.
The saying goes, "the bird that sticks its head out gets shot," and the stubborn resistance of the United States has prompted Tao Tie to intensify their invasion efforts. Many countries have fallen, leaving only a few major powers to form alliances, but the effects have been minimal.
As for Huaxia, nearly one-third of its territory has been lost, and this is still under the frequent mobilization of Xiong Bing Lian. Other countries are in an even worse situation; it is a crisis akin to the end of the world.
Localized battles are ongoing, but no major conflicts have emerged yet, as if a greater offensive is brewing.
The citizens of Giant Gorge City have been gradually evacuated in preparation for the worst, turning the entire city into a fortress of war.
On August 1, 2017, a wormhole device appeared above Giant Gorge City, with time-space jump activity indicators surpassing ordinary levels.
A massive warship pierced through the dark clouds, casting a huge shadow that plunged all of Giant Gorge City into darkness.
One Great Cross Ship after another escorted it on either side, while thousands of transport ships began to radiate outward around the vast city. The second large-scale invasion by Tao Tie had begun!
Alarms blared throughout Giant Gorge, and command teams along with Xiong Bing Lian gathered before the images from Giant Gorge.
In the footage, a level-one strategic command ship of Tao Tie had already landed and established itself. The cross ships guarding it had constructed a wormhole bridge, and the transport ships swarmed like ants, sending chills down spines.
Ducao's expression was exceptionally grim; it was clear that Tao Tie had already regarded Giant Gorge City as one of their bases for invading Earth.
"Is there any news coming back from within Giant Gorge City?"
"No, neither the Third Division nor the First Field Corps has sent any reports."
"When was the last message received?"
"It was two hours ago; we predict they may have been completely wiped out."
The command center fell into silence. Ducao finally spoke up, "You all heard that; the troops stationed in Giant Gorge City have already been annihilated. That place has been taken by Tao Tie as a stronghold. If they truly establish themselves there, their invasion will become even more powerful. At that point, you won't need me to tell you what the outcome will be."
Once Tao Tie establishes a foothold, driving them out will become exponentially more difficult.
It was no longer a matter of how many people would be sacrificed, but rather how many would remain in the entire Huaxia.
"What is the battle plan?" Reina asked, not believing that Ducao had called them here just for this.
Ducao's gaze swept over everyone in Xiong Bing Lian, and he said solemnly, "This will be a difficult battle. All of you will infiltrate Giant Gorge City with the objective of destroying the Command Ship located there. Following that, the entire South China Fleet will unleash its firepower on that city. If necessary, we will resort to intercontinental missiles or even nuclear weapons!"
Upon hearing this, everyone couldn't help but gasp. The dangers of nuclear weapons were still fresh in their minds; just look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Even after more than sixty years, those places remain uninhabitable.
If Huaxia were to use nuclear weapons, would there still be people left in this country?
The use of nuclear weapons indicated a lack of confidence; it was the last resort of the command center. Therefore, even the command center did not have high hopes for this battle, but they could not afford to abandon Giant Gorge City.
"Everyone from Xiong Bing Lian will act separately. If you stay together, you will be too obvious a target. As for who can successfully reach the Command Ship, that will depend on your luck."
