"If there are survivors in the North, I would do the same as her."
After hearing Snuff's analysis of Annie, Shasha and Yan exchanged glances. The crux of the matter lay here; the only win-win solution was to help Annie defend the city until Sword Demon Ato exhausted all the Primal Demons in the Freyzer Star System.
However, the reproduction rate of the Primal Demons was much faster than that of humans, making this approach equivalent to passively taking hits.
"Why don't I stay behind with Annie Cid to defend the city while you two search for Sword Demon Ato's whereabouts?"
Snuff's suggestion undoubtedly stirred Shasha and Yan; it was indeed a feasible compromise.
Thus, after some discussion, Snuff remained with Annie to guard the city, while Shasha and Yan set off deeper into the South in search of Sword Demon Ato.
As for their movements, Ato, who always had eyes on them, was well aware. He dispatched most of his demons to deal with Shasha and Yan, while another portion went to conquer the last stronghold in the South.
Consequently, Shasha and Yan faced relentless attacks along their journey. The demons showed no mercy, continuously appearing and employing a strategy of overwhelming numbers that left them with little recourse.
Eventually, under constant strain, Yan's unformed body suffered injuries from an assault by ten Longhorn Demons, and his wounds were severe. As a result, the onslaught intensified.
The two appeared on the verge of collapse and ultimately sought refuge in a cave.
At this point, Sword Demon Ato could no longer contain himself; the effectiveness of waiting for an opportunity had become evident. He decided to take matters into his own hands.
Holding the Sword of Command, he rushed forward and landed about a kilometer from the cave. Thousands of demons surrounded this not-so-tall peak, ensuring that escape was impossible for the two.
Step by step, he approached the cave until he stood before it. With a swift motion, he plunged the Sword of Command into the ground and shouted loudly, "Sword Demon Ato under Morgana Queen has come to seek counsel!"
His voice echoed within the cave—one second, two seconds, three seconds—until ten seconds passed. Just as Sword Demon Ato thought there was no one inside the cave, a blazing sword aura suddenly shot out, barely grazing his body.
With wings spread wide, the Sword of Command gripped tightly, Ato remained vigilant as he watched the cave. Suddenly, a figure appeared in mid-air, thrusting a long sword directly at him!
A sharp sound echoed as an astonishing scene unfolded; the Sword of Command actually split open with a clean cut under the direct stab of the long sword. The tip aimed straight at his heart—if it struck, he would undoubtedly die.
Without hesitation, Ato abandoned his sword and retreated, turning to fly away into the distance while summoning demons to buy himself some time.
However, another figure with white wings shot out, swinging a long sword that unleashed a blade of light targeting Ato's wings.
Ato paused, suddenly feeling emptiness behind him, followed by a tearing pain. He plummeted from the air and crashed heavily to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
The figure with white wings landed, stepping on his head while pointing the sword tip at his skull. Flames began to gather, the heat almost melting his face.
"Despicable!" Ato cried out in despair.
"Perhaps nothing can compare to your treachery? Attempting to take advantage of the situation; if I hadn't used this trick to lure you out, finding you would have been quite difficult!" Shasha mocked as he approached leisurely.
He nodded at Yan, who then thrust the sword tip directly at Ato's head. In the next moment, flames engulfed his body until he was reduced to ashes. All of Feleze's Primal Demons lost their control in an instant; their confused expressions cleared up but remained filled with a desire for slaughter.
After eliminating Ato, Yan had completed her mission. She smiled and said, "I'm going back to Nebula. Do you want to come along?"
Shasha thought for a moment and then nodded. "Sure."
Just as Yan was about to connect through her unique dark communication System, she suddenly experienced a violent tremor throughout her body and then collapsed to the ground, her face turning pale.
Shasha hurriedly picked her up, continuously slapping her cheeks but unable to wake her.
After a while, Yan finally regained consciousness, finding herself on Shasha's back. A look of deep sorrow crossed her face. "Holy Kaisa has fallen."
At those words, Shasha trembled. The leader with the sacred body was dead? What had happened?
After a moment of silence, he slowly asked, "So now, do you still plan to return to the Nebula?"
Yan nodded firmly at his question. "I must go back. Kesha entrusted the future of the Nebula to me!"
Shasha was puzzled. Perhaps it was the unique way of communication among the Nebula that made her aware of her future mission. However, he suddenly wanted to return to Earth for a look. In that instant, his concern for Reina surpassed all others. He needed to find out what had really happened, how Holy Kaisa had died, and what had become of Reina.
Thus, while heading towards Earth and the Nebula's space station, Shasha chose Earth, and Yan stepped onto the path back to the Nebula with a face full of disappointment.
