Just as Jiang Chen stepped off the plane, he overheard two middle-aged men in suits discussing Liu Pingping and Feng Dong. He paid them no mind; he had no intention of getting involved in any affairs during his visit to Southwest Province.
As he walked forward, a young woman wearing sunglasses suddenly blocked the path of the two men discussing Liu Pingping and Feng Dong.
"Shut up, you two! Do you think you can talk about Liu Pingping?" she scolded coldly, her face as frosty as ice.
The two suited men were momentarily taken aback and exchanged surprised glances at this sudden appearance. However, seeing that she was quite beautiful, their anger dissipated; beauty often received preferential treatment, especially in front of men.
"Hey there, miss. What's so strange about us discussing Liu Pingping? What’s it to you?" one of them laughed.
"Liu Pingping is my friend. I'm here for her wedding today. Does that concern you?" the young woman replied coolly.
"Uh, sorry! Let’s just pretend we didn’t say anything," the two men stammered, quickly apologizing before hastily leaving.
Since she was Liu Pingping's friend, she clearly wasn't an ordinary person. It was unwise to clash with someone of status; recognizing the situation, the two middle-aged men chose to retreat promptly.
Once they were gone, the young woman's expression remained somber. Although she had come to attend Liu Pingping's wedding, her mood was far from joyful because Liu Pingping was not marrying willingly.
As Liu Pingping's friend, witnessing her sadness as she approached a deep abyss left her feeling helpless and anxious. Jiang Chen couldn't help but feel curious as he observed her.
"What are you staring at? Never seen a beauty before?" The young woman noticed Jiang Chen looking at her and snapped irritably.
"You seem quite righteous. Can you tell me why Liu Pingping is marrying Feng Dong?" Jiang Chen asked.
Since he had encountered Liu Pingping's friend by chance, he figured it wouldn't hurt to inquire further; after all, it wouldn't take much time.
"Are you out of your mind? I don't even know you, so why should I tell you anything?" The young woman retorted coldly, showing no respect for Jiang Chen.
