Pushing open the office door marked with the title of Office Director, Liu stood there in a daze, seemingly alone as Li Mingxiang had apparently stepped out. Ziya noticed that the water in the cup was gone, so she filled it again and handed it to Liu. 0

"I don't want to die..." Under the harsh light, Liu's body trembled slightly, especially her eyes, which flickered with fear as she muttered to herself. 0

"What? Aunt Liu, what are you saying?" Ziya asked, startled, leaning in closer. 0

"Text message, text message... my phone has a text message..." Liu stammered as she pulled out her warm phone, gripping it tightly and showing it to Ziya. 0

Taking the trembling phone from Liu's hand, Ziya saw familiar words on the screen. Her mind buzzed; she couldn't believe what had actually happened. Just moments ago, Liu had been hanging by a thread, and Ziya had managed to save her. Surely nothing else would happen now! With this thought, Ziya's heart calmed a little. However, she couldn't shake off the curiosity about the fear that had flashed in Liu's eyes when she held her hand. 0

Handing the phone back to Liu along with the cup of water, Ziya casually asked, "Heh, Aunt Liu, why did you look so scared when I grabbed your hand?" 0

"It's nothing. But there are still exceptions—beautiful women wearing half-cut jackets and floral blouses, topped with fluffy knitted hats, creating a unique scene in the bustling city." 0

Tonight was a bright early winter night. Without the Mist Veil, visibility was at least three meters in the darkness without any lights. The small moon slowly climbed into the clouds, peeking out occasionally with a proud expression. At this moment, the buildings seemed to be asleep; two petite figures huddled together on one side, their limbs numb and aching from crouching. Liang Chao was also busy with friends, preparing for action while constantly checking the time for messages he should have received. 0

A faintly eerie sound echoed down the corridor on the 14th floor, followed by numerous shadows of Demon Leaders wielding sticks and ropes. The sounds of moving objects and low whispers were clearly heard by Ziya and Sun Meng hiding in another spot. 0

With their elbows resting on the ground, they were too cold to wipe away their runny noses. There was no one at the door; even the security guard seemed to have disappeared. Liang Chao and his friends had managed to come through without hindrance and then contacted Ziya and her group. 0

At the elevator entrance were piles of lush green potted plants; odd-numbered pots were for new arrivals while even-numbered ones were for those being removed. The storeroom door creaked open quietly as someone stealthily moved inside to shift some pots. 0

"They must have gone out!" Sun Meng whispered impatiently. 0

"Don't rush," Liang Chao's friend from the police department said in a calm tone. 0

The ghosts of the night all carried small flashlights. The main lights inside the building were off, and only the weak beams from their flashlights cast a soft glow on the polished tiles of the lobby and corridors. 0

Time slipped by unnoticed, and when Liang Chao stole a glance at his phone, it was already one in the morning. There was hardly any movement on the fourteenth floor. It seemed that these night ghosts had all gathered in two storage rooms. "Alright, it's time to catch some ghosts," Liang Chao's friend whispered. 0

In the conference room, Liu felt a whirlwind of anxiety after hearing Yuan Ye mention tomorrow's major cleanup. After driving aimlessly for a while, she didn't go home but instead lied to her husband, Xu Ziming, saying that she had to work late at the office. As long as she could find evidence against Lao Ran tonight, they wouldn't have any excuses to come after her tomorrow. 0

With this thought in mind, Liu made up her mind to check into a hotel. She ordered some food absentmindedly and rested in her room for a short while. When she looked at the time again, it was nearly ten past one in the morning. She picked up her prepared gloves and flashlight and drove towards the News Agency. 0

In the distance, she heard police sirens wailing from somewhere above, but it was hard to tell where they were headed. Crime rates had been steadily rising in society lately. Sighing to herself, she thought, why bother getting involved? Ever since Lao Ran's incident, Liu had felt as if a pair of malicious eyes were constantly watching her from behind, yet she couldn't see where this invisible gaze was coming from. 0

The orange-yellow streetlights stood lonely on both sides of the road, casting shadows of trees and illuminating the desolate street. Occasionally, a small delivery truck sped by, shaking the greenery along the pedestrian path. Some construction trucks also rushed by, overloaded with debris heading out to the suburbs. The bushes in the central garden had been carefully trimmed by landscapers to showcase various lively animal shapes. 0

Normally, Liu wouldn't have paid them any attention, but as she drove slowly in her car and casually glanced around, she found it quite pleasant. Just as she was about to reach the entrance of the News Agency, she noticed several uniformed officers standing at the door and felt a jolt of surprise as she slammed on the brakes. 0

The blue-and-white police cars flashed their striking red and blue lights as several people were escorted out from the entrance. Among them was a petite figure... Liu froze... What is she doing here? 0
