Ziya slipped on her shoes and stepped outside. The person at the door seemed impatient, knocking louder with each moment. "I'm coming... stop knocking!" she replied to the person outside as she walked to the door and pulled it open. 0

There was no one there; only an empty corridor greeted her, along with a fierce gust of wind that rushed in as she opened the door. Ziya shivered unexpectedly against the cold breeze. How strange, she thought, where did everyone go? Could it have been the wind knocking? Feeling frustrated, she closed the door, her feet still planted and her body not yet turned away. Just then, a series of knocks echoed again at the door. Who could be playing tricks? 0

Irritated, Ziya yanked the door open again, only to find a figure slumped awkwardly at her feet. Startled, her heart raced wildly for a moment before she realized it was her missing teacher, Wang Mei. The woman was covered in blood and bruises, with fresh wounds oozing blood. 0

"Teacher Wang... Teacher Wang..." Ziya called out anxiously, but there was no response. With no other choice, she dragged Wang Mei into the dormitory. The girls' dorm was unusually quiet today; the sudden natural phenomenon that had occurred in the afternoon had frightened many students away. Wang Mei must have known that Ziya and her friends hadn’t left yet, which is why she came here seeking help. 0

Sun Meng was jolted awake by Ziya's cries. It was about time she woke up in shock. Upon seeing the injured Wang Mei, her face turned pale. "What happened to Teacher Wang?" 0

"I don't know! Hurry and get some water; she's burning up!" Ziya urged as she propped Wang Mei's head up with her elbow. 0

After giving Wang Mei some water, they worked together to lay her down on the bed. Ziya helped remove Wang Mei's soaked clothes, revealing numerous scratches and wounds on her body—bloodied and raw. She placed the wet clothes in a basin and covered Wang Mei with a blanket, realizing how serious the situation was. 0

"We need to take her to the hospital; Teacher Wang could get infected like this, and that could be life-threatening." 0

"But... it's pouring rain outside, and there's thunder... what do we do?" Sun Meng said hesitantly, glancing at Wang Mei and then at the torrential rain outside. 0

"Didn't Zhiqing leave an umbrella here last time? You hold it while I carry Teacher Wang," Ziya suggested as she attempted to lift Wang Mei. However, she quickly realized that as a twelve-year-old girl, it would be impossible for her to carry a teacher who was much taller than herself. 0

Outside, thunder rumbled ominously while the sound of rain drummed against Ziya's eardrums. Amidst it all, a chilling sound of a baby crying faintly reached her ears. 0

"What is that? Is it really that kind of sound?" Sun Meng gasped, dropping the towel in fright as she hurried behind Ziya, trembling as she spoke. 0

Ziya furrowed her brow and listened intently for a moment but felt uncertain. Those wild cats should have been eliminated; why was there still such an eerie sound? Just as Ziya pondered this suspiciously, Wang Mei suddenly coughed violently... 0

"Teacher Wang, you're awake? That's great!" Ziya and Sun Meng exclaimed in surprise. 0

"The cat... the cat is everywhere... you mustn't open the door. Cough cough... ha..." Wang Mei managed to utter a few words before her eyes fluttered and she fainted. 0

"What does Teacher Wang mean by 'the cat'?" Sun Meng asked anxiously, confused. 0

Ziya clearly heard what Wang Mei said; the cat refers to the Cat King. In any group of cats, there is bound to be a Cat King. No wonder the authorities came to eliminate the stray cats; yet, an unsettling feeling lingered in her heart. It seemed that the Cat King was involved. How could Wang Mei have encountered the Cat King? Looking back at the unconscious Wang Mei, Ziya resolutely decided to take her to the hospital. Gritting her teeth, she instructed Sun Meng to place the teacher on her back so she could carry her to the hospital. 0

"Wow... meow... wow... meow..." A chilling, piercing sound cut through the rain and thunder, stabbing into Ziya's eardrums. It seemed that the Cat King was seeking revenge for its kin; otherwise, it wouldn't have harmed Wang Mei so severely. 0

What should I do? Ziya felt frantic as she noticed the thunder seemed to lessen. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed for an ambulance... After a few seconds, Ziya's face turned grim. 0

"120 isn't going through! What should we do?" Ziya was on the verge of tears, feeling helpless. Suddenly, she remembered to try calling Zhiqing. 0

"Let's wait! We'll talk about it when dawn comes." 0

Sun Meng's face turned pale with fear, trembling all over. After speaking, she jumped onto the bed, clutching the blankets and shaking with fright. This girl could fight fiercely with boys but was terrified of these strange occurrences. 0

After connecting with Zhiqing, Ziya reminded him not to call the police. Cats are sentient beings; their anger stems from being abandoned by humans and from senseless killings. However, upon hearing Ziya's situation, Zhiqing braved the rain and organized a group of villagers nearby. They arrived at the school wearing raincoats to shield themselves from getting soaked. 0

When they reached the school gate, the old man guarding it shouted for a long time without opening the door. Eventually, one of them had no choice but to break the lock with a piece of furniture they had brought along. Only then could they push open the gate and head toward the Guard Room. The scene before them was horrific: the old man lay dead on the bed, bloodied and with his mouth agape, eyes bulging in sheer terror. At first glance, his death was utterly horrifying. 0

Zhiqing led them through familiar paths, starting their search from the cafeteria. Inside, it was a mess—broken dishes scattered everywhere and vegetables strewn across the floor... As for the girls' dormitory... there were hardly any people left inside; Ziya and her group were at the forefront of this chaos. 0

Ziya finished the call with Zhiqing and anxiously hugged her knees on the bed, waiting for him to bring Wang Mei in to save her. The sound of Feng Si Nie tapping against the window frame echoed ominously. Sun Meng, startled by the strange scratching noises at the door, covered her face and ears with the blanket. Each scratch felt like it was clawing at Ziya's heart, filling her with an unsettling dread. Soon, countless pairs of green, glowing lantern-like eyes appeared at the window, fixated on the three people inside the room. Leading the pack was a stout cat with one red eye, fiercely ramming its head against the glass. 0

"Woo… woo… I'm scared!" Sun Meng's voice trembled low in her throat, shaking uncontrollably beneath the blanket. 0

Ziya tightly gripped a corner of the blanket, her body quivering as her heart raced with fear that the glass might shatter and doom them all. The dark mass of cat heads outside sent chills down her spine; she had no idea how many cats were waiting to enter and tear them apart. 0
