Cui Jian was deeply frustrated after losing the opportunity to attend university. My dad didn't blame Grandma; instead, he comforted Cui Jian, saying, "It's okay, it's just cheating. It's not a big deal. In the future, our family's business will be handed over to you. You're a man now; you need to support this family."
Cui Jian looked at my dad with bright eyes and asked, "Dad, are you serious?" My dad nodded, "Of course."
"Cu Ran is a burden. As long as you have food to eat, she will too." I watched their proud expressions and felt a surge of happiness inside. I knew Grandma wouldn't let this go easily.
Sure enough, a few days later, Boss Wang came by. Boss Wang was my dad's major client. This time, he wanted to expand his market in our city. If my dad could secure this big order, it would guarantee our family's income for the year.
To show sincerity, my dad asked Grandma to prepare a meal. He specifically requested beef and lamb. However, Grandma took matters into her own hands and bought pork from local pigs instead.
As soon as Boss Wang sat down at the table, he spotted the pork stew with vermicelli. His face changed instantly, and he rushed to the restroom to vomit.
Once Boss Wang left, my dad lost his temper: "Mom, didn't I tell you to buy beef and lamb? Why did you buy pork?" Grandma held her head high and replied, "What's wrong with pork? When I was young, I ate wild vegetables every day; there was no meat! Now that life is finally better, can't we have a meal with meat?"
I chuckled and said, "Grandma, do you think you're more powerful than the Monkey King?"
Grandma shot me a glare. "Who are you calling a monkey?"
I replied slowly, "Great Sage, with his Seventy-Two Transformations, you're not just limited to that. You're like a mad scientist, turning normal cells into something twisted. The Great Sage uses his transformations to subdue demons and uphold justice. You just use yours to mess with people."
I paused for a moment. "And besides, the Great Sage can always turn back after transforming. Once you change, there's no going back."
Grandma raised her hand in anger. "Say that again?"
Dad glared at me. "Cui Ran, is this how you talk to your grandmother?"
I scoffed. "It's not me; it's her actions that are infuriating. Dad, how many times have you told her not to cook pork? She just won't listen. Now look, Boss Wang is angry—what are we going to do?"
Dad took a deep breath. "What about your mom? Why aren't you taking care of her?"
Mom spoke softly, "I tried, but Grandma doesn't listen to me..."
Dad shouted, "Shut up! This is all your fault! If you had taught Xiao Ran better, she wouldn't be disrespecting her elders!"
I grabbed the toilet brush and threw it at Dad. "What are you yelling at Mom for? Bullying her because she's gentle?"
The brush hit him on the head, leaving a mark of blood on his face.
He covered his face in disbelief and looked at me. "Cui Ran, you dare hit me?"
I picked up the broom used for sweeping the floor. "If you yell at Mom again, I'll make sure you regret it."
Dad stepped back a few paces. "You... you've gone too far! Get out of my sight!"
I smirked. "Fine! Do you think I want to serve you?"
I grabbed Mom's hand firmly. "Mom, let's go!"
Mom looked around at the others in the room. "I'm worried about your dad..."
I scoffed again. "You've given him children, taken care of his parents, and served him for so many years. What more do you want? Do you really think he's some kind of saint? Even a stone can be warmed up over time. If he truly has no conscience, then just divorce him!"
Mom looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Xiao Ran, don't you hate that I’m not capable?"
I hugged her tightly. "Mom, I've grown up now. I can take care of you."
My mom and dad were getting a divorce.
My dad still wanted to fight back. "Can you really bear to leave this home?"
I scoffed, "What’s there to miss? I don’t want to stay in this broken home for even a moment."
