Chapter Sixty-Four: Reincarnator!
While Bai Luo was busy preparing for his "Ritual Writing" plan, Tony Stark was facing a major problem.
About half an hour ago, he received two phone calls in succession. The first was from Agent Phil Coulson, who informed Tony that the Bald Boss of the Ten Rings Organization had escaped from prison.
As soon as Coulson's call ended, Tony received another call from Pepper. The message was simple: "Tony, your house has been attacked!"
Rushing home, Tony was met with chaos. The Arc Reactor he had previously removed was gone, and half of the house was engulfed in flames.
Pepper stood outside his mansion, watching firefighters battle the blaze, her expression a mix of panic and concern.
She was an exceptionally capable secretary, managing every aspect of Tony's life with precision. In the business world, she was a rare talent.
However, when faced with violent incidents like this terrorist attack, her ability to handle the situation faltered significantly.
Upon arriving, Tony first reassured Pepper before rushing inside with the firefighters. The first thing he noticed was that his removed Arc Reactor was missing.
Meanwhile, J.A.R.V.I.S. was compiling a list and estimating their losses.
Looking at the wreckage around him, Tony immediately thought about what the Bald Boss of Ten Rings might be planning.
He wanted to create his own Iron Man Suit.
This wasn't hard to guess; Tony's first use of the Iron Man Suit had been to combat members of the Ten Rings Organization. The remains of the original suit were left in the deserts of Afghanistan. The Bald Boss had a keen interest in Stark Industries' weapons and would undoubtedly recognize the strategic significance of Howard Stark's Iron Man Suit. This attack seemed like revenge aimed at Tony but was actually focused on acquiring his technology.
At that moment, Tony's super AI butler spoke up: "However, the Mark Armor being developed outside remains intact. Their method of intrusion was quite crude and could not breach our core defense system."
Tony turned to see his Iron Man Suit slowly rising from underground under J.A.R.V.I.S.'s control. "Our outer defense capabilities are too weak."
"Precisely. It is because your residence is too far from the metropolis. Although we have trigger alarms connected to the police station, by the time law enforcement arrives at your cliffside villa, it is often too late to prevent illegal activities here."
Before Tony could respond, his phone rang again, this time it was Coulson: "I've heard about your situation—do you need help? Or is there some 'property' you need me to retrieve for you?"
"I did lose some things, but..." Tony Stark glanced at the gold and red suit slowly rising before him. "I can handle it myself."
He hung up the phone and walked towards the original suit.
Immediately, those surrounding Howard Stark's mansion—reporters, firefighters, employees of Stark Industries, and many others—witnessed an incredible scene: an "Iron Man" shot up from what was left of Tony's mansion, disappearing into the distant sky in an instant.
That was Tony Stark.
This time, he was determined to put an end to the Bald Boss of Ten Rings once and for all.
……
……
Meanwhile, far away in Washington, Bai Luo received a call from Nick Fury.
The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. got straight to the point with his first words: "Have you seen the news?"
Bai Luo hadn’t watched TV at all. As a young man who had crossed over from 2017, he hardly ever watched television unless he was particularly bored. For the past couple of days, he had been busy testing which types of paper and ink could replace the symbols from the System. He had even prepared to seek help from S.H.I.E.L.D. if necessary.
But Nick wouldn’t call without reason; Bai Luo quickly turned on the television.
Soon enough, he realized the purpose of Nick's call.
The news was broadcasting a "breaking story," with a reporter nervously speaking into the camera: "I'm here on the lawn outside Calvo University. As you can see behind me, the military is engaged in combat with some unknown creature."
It was clear that the reporter was in a dangerous position; behind her were flickering flames and the roar of heavy machine guns, along with the thunderous sounds of artillery. Moreover… there were howls that could only come from some monstrous being.
But the camera was not aimed at the battlefield, and a soldier rushed over, pushing aside the agitated reporter. He covered the camera lens with his hand and shouted, "Don't film! Don't film!"
Bai Luo watched the scene and sound on the television, realizing something as he pondered, "Could this be...?"
"As far as I know, this is a human who has mutated due to excessive exposure to Gamma Rays. However, our information is limited, and I’m not clear on his specific situation. Initially, I didn’t plan to intervene—because clearly, we don’t have anyone capable of subduing him here, and it wouldn’t make much sense to go. But… you were the first person that came to my mind," Nick Fury stated plainly. "If you can help us subdue him and bring him back, I believe we can handle the situation better."
Bai Luo narrowed his eyes slightly because he knew exactly who this hulking figure was that was clashing with the military outside Calvo University.
Bruce Banner—or rather… that was Hulk.
Just as Bai Luo made this connection, a loud alarm suddenly blared in his mind from the System, followed by a series of notifications.
[Warning! Warning!]
[Ding~ Reincarnator will arrive at the battlefield in thirty seconds.]
[Please prepare, host.]
Bai Luo frowned slightly. The arrival of a Reincarnator meant they would have to execute a certain mission upon entering a world. Their entry points usually aligned with key narrative moments in the story. This time, the appearance of the Reincarnator was undoubtedly related to Hulk.
Fury seemed anxious; noticing Bai Luo's silence, he urged, "Bai Luo?"
Bai Luo replied, "Alright, I'm on my way."
Fury said, "Come to headquarters first; I'll have Agent Hill take you directly there."
As Bai Luo stepped out, he unexpectedly ran into Lorna.
The Polaris Sister asked, "Going out?"
"I am going to save the world."
Bai Luo smiled shamelessly.
Lorna immediately thought of what Bai Luo was referring to. She asked, "Is it about the incident in New York? That big green monster? Is he a mutant... or..."
Bai Luo glanced at her and shook his head. He didn't know what the mission of the Reincarnator who had descended into this world was, but he had to get to the scene as quickly as possible.
It was the first time Lorna saw Bai Luo with such a serious expression. She couldn't help but step forward and said, "Take me with you."
Bai Luo replied, "The risks involved might be far greater than you imagine. I advise you to stay here and watch the news."
But Lorna firmly shook her head and said, "You need a partner."
Bai Luo stared intently at this girl in front of him, remaining silent for a long moment.
