Chapter Sixty-Five: You Know Nothing of Power
Bai Luo spent ten minutes rushing from the hotel where he was staying to the Trident Headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury had been waiting for a while, and he couldn't help but feel a bit surprised when he saw Lorna.
Bai Luo spoke directly, "Here's what I think: if Magneto sees his daughter being taken to battle Hulk, there's a thirty percent chance he'll show up to save her, so..."
Listening to Bai Luo's obvious nonsense, Nick's mouth twitched slightly, but he said nothing. He handed a stack of documents to Bai Luo and stated, "Hill is waiting for you on the tarmac. I'll bring reinforcements over shortly—though I doubt my agents will be much use, and... the situation over there has just changed."
The change Nick referred to was likely the Reincarnator.
However, Bai Luo didn't dwell on it. He and the unusually quiet Lorna headed straight for the tarmac at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Trident Headquarters. Agent Hill was already waiting for them, and as soon as Bai Luo boarded the plane, they took off.
On the aircraft, Bai Luo flipped through the information Nick had given him about Hulk while listening to Hill's summary of the situation on-site.
The documents weren't particularly helpful; they mainly detailed who Hulk was and Bruce Banner's life history. However, Hill's summary piqued Bai Luo's interest.
"About ten to fifteen minutes ago, a group of Asians suddenly appeared near Cavoll University. Around five minutes after their appearance, they seemed to have a disagreement. One of them, wielding Floating Dust and standing on a Flying Sword, killed all the others and began indiscriminate attacks against the military and Hulk. Their appearance was sudden, and their aggression and intent were extremely strong. There is no record of this individual in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files on abnormal humans. We seriously suspect that these individuals are related to those who appeared in Kansas City twenty years ago, belonging to an organization even larger and more tangled than Hydra—a World-Class Terrorist Organization."
S.H.I.E.L.D.'s aircraft was incredibly fast; it took less than forty minutes to travel from Washington to New York. However, by the time they arrived, the battle had already escalated.
Hulk was rampaging through New York City, while hot on his heels was the target—the Reincarnator.
Specifically, it was a Daoist Reincarnator. This fellow stood atop an enlarged Floating Dust, wearing a robe embroidered with golden dragons that billowed wildly in the wind. With an impressive beard and hands forming seals, he pursued Hulk with a Flying Sword less than half a meter long.
The speed of the Flying Sword was incredibly fast, and its force was overwhelming. Hulk attempted several times to catch the Flying Sword or counterattack the Reincarnator, but each time he was fiercely knocked back to the ground by the opponent's Flying Sword.
However, it seemed that the Flying Sword also struggled to break through Hulk's defenses. Despite its impressive display, it left no obvious wounds or marks on the massive green figure.
Yet, the Reincarnator's target appeared to be Hulk, relentlessly pursuing him through the city. With the speed of his Flying Sword, anyone who dared to intercept him would be met with a sweeping light of Sword of Dao, cutting through living beings and armored vehicles as if they were made of paper, instantly severing them.
This naturally caused great chaos in the city. One Hulk was already astonishing enough, and now there was another individual wielding a flying sword that sliced through anyone in sight.
As Bai Luo and his companions' aircraft arrived, the Daoist soaring towards them suddenly lifted his head. His cold, gleaming eyes locked onto the aircraft rushing through the air.
In that instant, Bai Luo sensed from that simple gaze what the opponent intended to do.
Then, all three inside the aircraft heard a piercing shriek—the astonishing tremor emitted by the Flying Sword as it turned back.
One side of the aircraft was instantly torn apart as if it were tofu. Amidst the sparks flying everywhere, the coldly gleaming Flying Sword continued its relentless assault, aiming to rip apart the entire aircraft!
At that moment, both Lorna and Hill's expressions changed drastically, but Bai Luo leaped out like lightning. He threw three of his drawn Palm Thunder Talismans at the Flying Sword.
The Flying Sword trembled violently and abruptly turned back, directly slicing into Hulk as he charged toward the Daoist, sending the massive Forgiveness Color creature crashing into the ground like a cannonball.
Meanwhile, Bai Luo had already jumped through the gap created by the Flying Sword's strike. At that same moment, Lorna began to exert her abilities within the aircraft, intending to use her control over magnetic fields to ensure a smooth landing for their vehicle.
However, Bai Luo's escape was not smooth; just as he rushed out, he saw a descending golden foot looming above him.
The Daoist landed a kick, crashing down onto Bai Luo like a cannonball, sending up a cloud of dust in an instant. Their landing spot was on the same street as Hulk.
At that moment, Hulk was just beginning to rise when the Daoist flicked his hand, and the Flying Sword shot up from the ground once more, knocking Hulk back down. The Flying Sword then hammered down like a mallet, pressing Hulk deeper into the ground, preventing him from lifting his head.
The Daoist was imposing, standing over six feet tall with a robust physique. His Daoist robe billowed without wind, and his face was covered in a thick beard. His eyes seemed to shimmer with a fierce cold light. He glanced at Bai Luo beneath his foot and then looked up at the aircraft that was tilting and descending from the sky, sneering, "Just some characters who can't even make it to the screen. I thought I might be facing someone like Steve or Tony."
Bai Luo, despite being stepped on, remained relatively calm. He said, "Brother, if you could just lift your foot off me quickly, we might still have a civil conversation..."
"You foolish native—what do you want to talk about? You people know nothing of power and have no idea what it means to be a 'Chinese traveler, an American drifter, or a Japanese high school student.'" The Daoist spoke with an air of arrogance, not even glancing at Bai Luo beneath him. "Moreover, people like us are the elite among travelers, true heroes who have fought their way out of slaughter... Do you think Hulk is invincible? Don't worry; what I'm about to do will shatter your imagination—I won't kill you; I'll sever your limbs and let you see how I kill Hulk before you bleed out."
Bai Luo stared at the Daoist's disdainful expression and silently thought for a moment before saying, "Brother, not only are you stepping on me, but you've also taken all my lines!"
