Chapter Seventy-One: Dare You Duel with Me, Nas?
The soldier leading Bai Luo intended to take him to the helicopter, but as he turned his head, the Easterners had vanished, leaving only a black dot in the sky.
The soldier stood there for a moment, smacking his lips and shaking his head.
Meanwhile, with Sadako's help, Bai Luo swiftly arrived at the battlefield.
Illuminating the sky was the Daoist's Flying Sword.
This Reincarnator was undoubtedly above B-Rank, the strongest Reincarnator Bai Luo had ever encountered. He was clearly preparing to unleash a powerful attack, drawing a Sword of Dao formation in the air. He raised his Flying Sword high; the golden blade disappeared into the clouds, radiating a brilliant golden light that illuminated the heavy clouds over New York City. From the center of that Flying Sword, countless faint sword lights materialized, swirling in the air like a sword formation, occasionally striking out as millions of Sword of Dao beams streaked through the dark sky, piercing into New York City.
It was a scene reminiscent of punishment; the entire city fell into panic. The U.S. Military's aircraft took off immediately, roaring towards the threat but could not approach the core area of the sword formation. In mid-air, they were brutally sliced into massive fireballs by the sprawling sword array, crashing down amidst explosions.
The power of those Flying Swords was astonishing.
Watching from afar, Bai Luo realized that with his current resources, it was unrealistic to take down this Reincarnator alone.
But... who said Bai Luo wanted to face this guy one-on-one?
With S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America, Hulk, and The Ancient One all present, he preferred a group fight over a solo battle.
While this Reincarnator had disappeared entirely, he wasn't idle; he wasn't just searching for Hulk but was genuinely gearing up to showcase his full strength.
If he had displayed such power during this morning's battle, Bai Luo and his companions would have been utterly defeated. However, this Reincarnator clearly did not anticipate that a Hulk movie scenario could draw so many people in. Instead, he was repelled by Bai Luo and The Ancient One working together and even lost an Ability User on-site.
At that moment, a helicopter approached from one side. From afar, Nick Fury's voice could be heard shouting, "You finally made it! Do you have any plans?"
Bai Luo hovered in mid-air with Sadako's assistance, gazing at the sword formation in the distance. He thought to himself that he had just entered the novice village while others were already maxed out. Unless something extraordinary happened, who could possibly compete against that?
The entire city was engulfed in panic. Nick Fury kept his eyes fixed on Bai Luo from the helicopter and after a moment said, "If there's no plan, we retreat. We have already issued a full evacuation notice. Once more than eighty percent of the population has evacuated, we will resort to our ultimate weapon."
The ultimate weapon Nick mentioned was clearly a nuclear bomb.
But Bai Luo genuinely doubted whether a nuclear bomb could take down this incredibly powerful Reincarnator.
He took a deep breath and asked, "What about Steve?"
"He's downstairs, trying to rescue Banner—who should now be Hulk."
Bai Luo stared at the most brilliant Sword of Dao in the center of the sword formation for a moment and said, "Tell the captain I'm coming."
Fury exclaimed, "Do you have a plan?"
"I have a plan."
Before Fury could say anything else, Bai Luo shot toward the city beneath the apocalyptic sword formation hovering over New York City, aided by Sadako.
It seemed that the Reincarnator's sword formation had some kind of sensing mechanism, as it immediately detected Bai Luo's breakthrough. Ghostly sword lights separated from the formation and slashed toward Bai Luo like lightning.
Sadako warned him right away, but Bai Luo had already seen it. In mid-air, he pulled out a Talisman Pen from his Item Storage Talisman. As he began to draw in the air, Sadako's expression changed. "You’re going to draw a talisman out of thin air? You..."
She had never seen Bai Luo draw a talisman like this before, so her reaction was understandable.
However, Bai Luo was not seeking death.
He had three thousand five System points, but there were very few things he could exchange for. The Reincarnator's power was overwhelming; exchanging for a Talisman wouldn't be enough to bring him down. Thus, he decided to create a Talisman from scratch to deal with the current situation.
Bai Luo chose to draw a Tortoise Shell Talisman. The method for drawing this Talisman cost three thousand points, while the technique for drawing it in mid-air cost two hundred points. There was actually a comprehensive guide in the System on how to draw Talismans out of thin air for just two thousand points, but if Bai Luo acquired that, he wouldn't have enough points left.
The Tortoise Shell Talisman, as its name suggests, was defensive in nature. This vast sword formation was clearly beyond what his Iron Body Talisman could withstand. A brand new high-level defensive Talisman was undoubtedly essential; otherwise, it might completely fail to counter the overwhelming sword formation and waste his points instead.
Bai Luo's gaze reflected the rapidly approaching Flying Sword as Sadako and Mizumura Memeko anxiously wielded the Talisman Pen in mid-air, frantically drawing Talismans.
For Bai Luo, the Tortoise Shell Talisman was an entirely new Talisman. Drawing from his previous experience with talismans, he failed six times before finally succeeding in drawing one in mid-air.
A beam of light appeared before Bai Luo, forming a swirling pattern reminiscent of the Bagua and the Five Elements. From a distance, it looked like a hazy, glowing circular disc radiating a yellowish light. Bai Luo pushed it directly towards the shadow of the Sword of Dao that was rushing towards him.
A loud explosion echoed in the air as the sword shadow and the Tortoise Shell Talisman simultaneously shattered. However, Bai Luo had already begun to draw the next Tortoise Shell Talisman.
As he drew the talisman, Bai Luo's technique became increasingly proficient. He also confirmed the positions of Steve and the others—Hulk was enveloped in a large translucent membrane, restricted to a fixed position, while Steve was being relentlessly pursued by the swirling sword shadows, maneuvering frantically around the glowing barrier surrounding Hulk with his Vibranium Shield.
Bai Luo's talisman-drawing skills were becoming more adept. Drawing talismans in mid-air could technically be done by tracing with fingers in the void, but that required some blood from a Talisman or something magical; Bai Luo had pure blood type, which did not meet any requirements.
Thus, he could only use a Talisman Pen. However, since it was still a pen, the error rate for drawing talismans in mid-air was quite high. Regardless, Bai Luo unleashed his hand speed honed over twenty years of singlehood, wielding a brush in mid-air and furiously drawing talismans. In no time, he produced seven or eight Tortoise Shell Talismans before him, enveloping himself in a yellowish glow.
Using Sadako's assistance to descend steadily, he landed beside Steve. Silently calling out Mizumura Memeko in his heart, he then amplified his voice with the help of the vengeful spirit and shouted, "Hey! You up there—do you dare to duel with me?"
This voice soared into the sky under the amplification of the Vengeful Spirit, resonating throughout New York City. Moreover, Bai Luo shouted in Chinese, adding to its imposing presence.
