Chapter Seventy-Eight: I Just Want to Be a Quiet Salted Fish 0

The visitor was Tony Stark. 0

He walked in holding a large bouquet of roses, dressed in a sharp suit that exuded the aura of a successful businessman. 0

Bai Luo was somewhat surprised by his arrival. 0

"Someone really managed to take you down," Howard Stark remarked. Although he and Bai Luo had only met a few times, they both had a good impression of each other. Howard chuckled, "I haven't left New York for a long time, and look what happened while I was away." 0

Bai Luo asked, "Can I ask what you were up to?" 0

"Of course." Howard settled into the chair that Pierce had just vacated and continued with a smile, "The leader of the Ten Rings Organization—he broke out of prison and took my first Arc Reactor. I went after him and fought against the Iron Man Suit he created, then rushed back this morning—I guess you know I missed out on a real battle." 0

Bai Luo understood that despite Howard's nonchalant tone, this was his first fight, and winning probably wasn't as easy as it sounded; otherwise, Tony wouldn't have just now appeared in New York City. 0

Tony added, "And now I'm famous like you—everyone calls me Iron Man." 0

Bai Luo's heart skipped a beat. "Don't tell me your fight with that Bald Boss from the Ten Rings Organization took place on the streets of some bustling city, and you boldly announced your responsibility for last night's events before coming to see me." 0

Tony smiled but said nothing, making the answer quite clear. 0

Bai Luo couldn't help but smirk. 0

Tony continued, "Also, you're now a true celebrity—after last night's battle, your name is rising like the sun, and everyone wants to know who you are." 0

Seeing the obvious teasing glint in Tony's eyes made Bai Luo feel slightly annoyed. He asked, "Are you here to see me or to drag me into exposing my 'true identity' alongside you?" 0

Tony looked a bit awkward and replied with a laugh, "So... how are you doing now?" 0

"Do I look like I have any issues?" 0

Tony said, "So... do you know who those people really are? I just met Fury; he was quite cryptic with me. But from my sources, it seems that the few individuals classified as visitors from an Alternate Dimension decayed rapidly after death, leaving almost no valuable information." 0

Bai Luo raised an eyebrow slightly. "Are those people I killed twenty years ago included?" 0

"Yes, it's as if they are in conflict with our world, or perhaps certain substances from our world are highly corrosive to them. When they are alive, this conflict is not apparent; their immune system is strong enough to withstand such effects. However, once they die and their bodily cells begin to decay en masse, leading to an imbalance in their immune system, the impact becomes evident, making it impossible for their bodies to be preserved for long." 0

Bai Luo frowned and asked, "What about their watches?" 0

"Watches?" Tony Stark replied. "Have you noticed the commonality among these individuals? From the Kansas City Incident twenty years ago to this New York Incident, every person from both groups has the same style of watch. As far as I know, this is the fundamental reason S.H.I.E.L.D. concluded that these two groups come from the same world or faction. But there’s nothing unusual about those watches; they are just ordinary timepieces. I suspect they might be standard issue equipment." 0

But that was a Main God watch; how could it possibly be ordinary? 0

As soon as Bai Luo had that thought, he realized he was being foolish. 0

It was a Main God. 0

Countless Reincarnators had died across various worlds, and some worlds certainly had the capability to trace clues of the Main God Space from the corpses of deceased Reincarnators. The Main God must have been prepared for this and would never allow anyone to uncover any anomalies from a Reincarnator's body. 0

Because of this, no one had known where these suddenly appearing and extremely powerful Terrorists had come from over the past twenty years. 0

Two decades ago, people believed they were members of some large Terrorist Organization, but now, with an evolving understanding of this world and the universe, it was reasonable to speculate that they came from an Alternate Dimension. 0

Bai Luo pondered for a moment before looking up to see Tony watching him. 0

Tony's gaze held more than just friendship; there was another layer of meaning behind it. 0

After the kidnapping incident, Tony Stark had undergone significant changes. Although on the surface he still appeared to be the same carefree playboy, deep down he had resolved to take responsibility for this world. This was why he shut down his Stark Industries weapons division and even became Iron Man to combat crime. 0

The recent disturbances caused by the Reincarnators in New York were too significant. In addition to resolving the crisis, many people were forced to consider other questions—where did they come from? What were their true intentions? If they could not be found and eradicated, how should they respond when they appeared again? 0

Tony was clearly worried about this issue. For him, Bai Luo was the only person who had encountered these individuals twice; it was natural for him to think that Bai Luo might know something. 0

Bai Luo thought for a moment and said, "Their actions lack regularity; their targets are completely unrelated; and their abilities are bizarre and vastly different... What do you think they are?" 0

"It seems you’re not sure either?" Tony shook his head. "I’m not sure either; I’m investigating as well." 0

Tony Stark paused briefly before continuing, "I just met Fury. He shared a plan with me. 0

"He wants to establish an organization—an organization composed of people like us—to specifically deal with such incidents." 0

The Avengers. 0

Bai Luo smiled and said, "What a coincidence, he brought this up with me not long ago." 0

Tony Stark asked, "What are your plans?" 0

Bai Luo replied with a grin, "I was thinking if I could get close to a wealthy person, I would let Nick know and then go about my business secretly." 0

"Tell Nick Fury—then go about your business secretly?" Tony scoffed, but he understood what Bai Luo meant; Bai Luo wanted to operate under the name of S.H.I.E.L.D. 0

Tony said, "Looks like I'm just the wealthy one you're looking for." 0

"Tsk tsk." Bai Luo smacked his lips; he liked people who could understand him and had some awareness. "Then I'll find some impressive people to team up with. That way, when you guys are off fighting battles, I can just stay back like a salted fish. Or I could do things like protect superhero girlfriends, female friends, or even family members. Let me be a cheerleader; that works for me too. I can also..." 0

Tony: "..." 0
