Chapter 148: Sneaking into the Village
Bai Luo descended from the aircraft, landing not far from the battlefield, ensuring that no one seemed to notice him.
At this moment, in the sky, Sato Ryuseki's version of Hatsune Miku was locked in a fierce battle with Vikas.
No matter the time or the bizarre fusion, Hatsune's combat power seemed to stem from her singing. At this very moment, she was belting out a song. However, this time she did not possess her colossal form or the world-shaking voice; although the force she unleashed was still impressive, it was no longer a widespread attack but rather targeted at Vikas.
Yet, Vikas was indeed formidable. Even with the full might of the Hatsune Victory Team and all their efforts to summon this fused version of Hatsune Miku, he was still able to stand his ground single-handedly without showing any signs of weakness.
Meanwhile, Bai Luo was moving on the ground.
Though he was filled with righteous indignation to confront the perverse Sato Ryuseki transformed into Hatsune Miku, his first target was Tiger Lee.
This guy had just been thoroughly "beaten back to his original form" by Hatsune Miku's attack. The Nerathus Dog-headed Man form had long since vanished, and he now lay on the chaotic ground, barely clinging to life, completely vulnerable. Bai Luo was certain that this guy was at least B-Rank; a single head would be worth at least three thousand five reward points from Old White Rabbit's System—might as well take it if it’s free.
However, as Bai Luo arrived, he noticed something seemed off.
Another figure was stealthily approaching Tiger Lee, who lay amidst the ruins.
It appeared to be a Reincarnator from the Hatsune Miku Team, dressed in an unorthodox black bodysuit and holding a weapon resembling an Energy Gun. This individual was cautiously inching closer to Tiger Lee, clearly intending to take advantage of his weakened state.
This was evidently a survivor from the Hatsune Victory Team. With Vikas struggling in battle and unable to prevent the Reincarnator from sketching out a magic circle covering all of Water City, they had returned immediately to intervene here. Thus, it was inevitable that some would slip through Vikas's grasp.
However, those who managed to evade Vikas were likely lacking in strength.
At this moment, amidst the chaos of Hatsune Miku battling Vikas, it wasn’t surprising for this Reincarnator to return and pick up scraps.
Bai Luo hadn’t expected to encounter a fellow Reincarnator while scavenging. Upon seeing him, the other paused slightly. For a Reincarnator in such a setting—a core battlefield within a Marvel movie narrative—the likelihood of encountering an Eastern face and mistaking it for a character in the plot was nearly zero. Thus, when the cautious Reincarnator from the Hatsune Victory Team spotted Bai Luo, they instinctively assumed he was some hidden Reincarnator from the Buddha Light Team and raised their Energy Gun, firing without hesitation.
The target of the gunfire was not Bai Luo, but rather Tiger Lee, lying on the ground. After taking a shot, the Japanese Reincarnator turned and fled with such speed and decisiveness that Bai Luo was momentarily stunned.
Clearly, this Japanese Reincarnator was aware of his own limitations. Regardless of who he faced, it seemed he believed he could not handle them. His sole intention was to claim Tiger Lee's head, as killing an enemy Reincarnator would earn him significant reward points among their group. Thus, his focus was solely on eliminating Tiger Lee for the kill bonus.
Unfortunately for him, he was up against Bai Luo.
Bai Luo was now a versatile player. Although he hadn’t anticipated that this Reincarnator would be so cowardly, his reaction was swift. He immediately reached out with a Tortoise Shell Talisman to block the attack aimed at Tiger Lee.
Though severely injured and unable to move, Tiger Lee remained conscious as a powerful Reincarnator. He expressed genuine gratitude towards Bai Luo for his timely assistance. For a Reincarnator, life was paramount, and Bai Luo had just saved his life, which certainly warranted heartfelt appreciation.
What he didn’t realize was that Bai Luo had intervened because he wanted to personally kill someone for points.
However, Bai Luo wouldn’t reveal this at the moment. He intended to appear as harmless as possible until his plans were set in motion.
For instance, he nodded reassuringly at Tiger Lee, offering a comforting smile.
Then he prepared to pursue the fleeing Japanese Reincarnator.
Although that guy seemed only slightly stronger than a novice Reincarnator, leaving him alive could pose a risk.
Before Bai Luo could act, however, blood suddenly erupted from the neck of the fleeing Japanese Reincarnator, who then collapsed lifelessly to the ground—silently killed in an instant.
With his death came the emergence of a slender figure that had been concealed nearby.
It was Paitun, who had not been seen for quite some time.
Her body bore traces of blood; as an assassin, her resilience wasn’t particularly strong.
She had arrived earlier and witnessed the entire scene unfold. She gave Bai Luo a slight nod before turning her gaze toward the battlefield above. Then her figure gradually faded away, clearly intending to assist Vikas against Hatsune Miku.
Her strength was not enough to confront the current version of Sato Ryuseki's Hatsune Miku head-on, but as an assassin, her instinct for war was to strike from weakness and wait for the right moment.
Paitun needed to find an opportunity and wait for it, aiming to take down the green-haired, twin-tailed Hatsune Miku in one decisive blow!
However, as she moved, a sense of unease crept into Paitun's heart. She suddenly remembered that man named Bai Luo, who had been reported missing by S.H.I.E.L.D. long ago.
So… how could he possibly be here now?
What could his purpose be?
Paitun slowly came to a halt, finally realizing something was off. She turned around in a flash and headed straight for Tiger Lee's location.
Yet she was still a step too late. From a distance, she received the notification from Main God about Tiger Lee's demise. When she arrived at the scene, all she saw was Tiger Lee's face twisted in frustration, unable to close his eyes in death. The man named Bai Luo had already vanished without a trace.
