"Uh... well... can you tell me where Guan Xue is? I dreamed he was in danger, and I need to save him!"
Wenxin urgently grasped Su Daji's hand. "Just think of it as a favor because Guan Xue looks exactly like Bo Yikao. Please, tell me where he is!"
"Guan Xue..." Su Daji murmured again, her eyes dim and filled with confusion and sorrow.
"He is..."
Su Daji suddenly smiled sadly. "He said he would defy fate for me, so he went to Xi Qi to assassinate Jiang Ziya... But he failed. Even if he could change his fate, what good would it do?!"
What?!
Wenxin gasped in shock, no longer able to care about the distraught Su Daji. She dashed out, heading straight for her palace, then rummaged through a chest to find the sword that had almost cost Guan Xue his life.
She began to chant a command, directing the sword with a firm voice: "Rise."
Since this sword originally belonged to Jiang Ziya, it carried a trace of its master's aura. Sensing this energy, the sword shot forth like an arrow, taking Wenxin to find Jiang Ziya.
Wenxin was extremely anxious, silently praying in her heart: "Guan Xue, you must wait for me. Please, you have to wait for me!"
In the distance, Wenxin spotted a blaze roaring fiercely, standing out against the pitch-black night sky as if it were going to engulf the entire world.
Guan Xue was enveloped in a dazzling white light, trapped in the flames and unable to move.
“Guan Xue!”
Hearing her call, Guan Xue instinctively froze, a painful expression on her face as she forced a smile. “Wenxin, why are you here? You should go back. I don’t want you to see me die because I can’t bear to see your sad face.”
“I…” Wenxin tried to rush into the flames, but the fierce fire burned her hands. With no other choice, she stopped outside the inferno and began to chant a spell for rain. However, instead of extinguishing the flames, the rain only intensified them, making the fire surge like a roaring dragon.
“Miss, that is True Fire,” a deep male voice came from behind.
Turning around, Wenxin saw Jiang Ziya standing a few steps away in flowing white robes, exuding an ethereal presence with deep and calm eyes.
“There is a difference between humans and demons. Since you are a cultivator, it would be wise to turn back now.”
Wenxin did not respond but walked straight up to Jiang Ziya and knelt down with a thud. “Please, I beg you, let Guan Xue go just this once. I would be eternally grateful.”
“Why must you be so stubborn?” Jiang Ziya asked.
Looking up with tears in her eyes that sparkled with determination, Wenxin replied, “I didn’t understand before, but now I think I do.”
Suddenly, she stood up and swiftly placed her sword against Jiang Ziya’s neck. “I’m sorry for the offense, but if anyone tries to stop me from saving Guan Xue, I will kill gods if they stand in my way and slay Buddhas if they obstruct me!”
Jiang Ziya stared in astonishment at the woman’s resolute profile. After a long moment, he sighed softly, “Very well, perhaps this is fate.”
"Isn't it good to live here for a lifetime?"
"No!"
Wenxin shook her head without hesitation. "You always use Su Daji's limited time as an excuse to be with her, and it makes me really unhappy!"
"Darling, one must understand gratitude. If it weren't for her using her three tails to create me, how would you have met me a thousand years later?"
"Uh..." Wenxin retorted, "But we haven't even reached a thousand years yet! In fact, she hasn't even created you at this moment!"
No one could have anticipated that Guan Xue was actually conjured by the Nine-Tailed Fox using three of its tails along with Bo Yikao's lingering soul.
Perhaps the Nine-Tailed Fox's original intention was to create a new Bo Yikao, but unfortunately, before she could wait for Guan Xue to grow up, she had already lost her head to Jiang Ziya and perished.
For this reason, Wenxin once asked Guan Xue, "Since you were willing to risk your life to assassinate Jiang Ziya for the Nine-Tailed Fox, why didn't you warn her in advance that King Zhou intended to kill Bo Yikao? Wouldn't that have made everyone happy?"
Guan Xue rarely fell silent. After a long while, he slowly took Wenxin's hand and gently rubbed it in his palm. "There's no way around it. This is the decision you made for me. If Bo Yikao hadn't died, perhaps I wouldn't exist. So—"
He suddenly looked up and smiled gently. "Then who would accompany you through this otherworldly life? I can't take that risk, so repaying my sister is the only thing I can do."
