As Anyuan lay in a deep slumber, Muen watched him intently. As he gazed, a mischievous thought crept into his mind.
He pondered silently: Poor Little Female, if I could just give him a kiss, would he recover faster?
Lost in thought, he found himself inching closer to Anyuan. But in the next moment, Muen seemed to snap back to reality, shaking his head in frustration. He scolded himself internally: How could I think like this?
He stood up and walked out of the cave, unaware that the weak Anyuan inside was staring blankly at his retreating figure.
Anyuan couldn't help but smile bitterly to himself: Am I really so dazed by poison? Or have I gone mad from missing my hometown?
Sleepiness washed over him again like a tide, and he slowly closed his eyes, drifting off once more.
When he awoke, it was already the next day.
Turning his head, he felt something warm and fuzzy against his face. It was Muen, who was blinking his amber eyes while lying beside him, looking adorably round-eyed.
Anyuan lifted his hand and gently ruffled Muen's head. "Sorry to worry you, Muen. Could you get me some water?"
At the sound of his voice, Muen sprang up and headed toward the spot where the bamboo tube was kept, extending his black claws. In the blink of an eye, a fantastical scene unfolded; the black panther transformed into a handsome young man.
Anyuan thought he might still be dreaming as he curiously observed the young man's back, secretly admiring: I must say, that physique is impressive—like a jade tree standing tall in the wind.
However, when the young man turned around and looked at him with those incredibly familiar eyes, Anyuan felt as if his mind had exploded with a loud "bang." He gasped inwardly: This dream is too strange; why do those eyes look exactly like Muen's?
Muen walked over and handed the bamboo tube to her, saying, "Drink up!"
Anyuan's gaze slowly shifted from that handsome face to the black tail behind him, and she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. Terrified, she shouted, "Monster, monster!"
Before she could finish her words, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
Muen stood there, completely at a loss.
He recalled where Anyuan's gaze had lingered before she fainted and thought to himself: Could it be that she was scared by my tail?
It made sense; it was a great humiliation for beastmen if their tails couldn't be hidden when transformed into human form. It was understandable that she would despise him. Muen's eyes filled with disappointment as he turned and ran out of the cave.
Time passed, and Anyuan slowly regained consciousness, only to find that the boy was no longer in the cave, nor was the black panther in sight.
She had already confirmed that the boy was Muen. The existence of monsters in this world was simply terrifying.
Looking at the medicinal soup Muen had cooked in the bamboo pot and the roasted meat he had placed on the stone outside, Anyuan felt a mix of emotions. She thought to herself: Even if he is a monster, he must be a good one; at least he has shown great care for me.
Meanwhile, Muen was running swiftly through the jungle, his heart feeling as if it had fallen into an ice cellar—cold and desolate.
He thought to himself: Little Female can't accept my tail. It's all this tail's fault; maybe I should just cut it off so that Little Female won't despise me anymore.
At that moment, a noise came from behind him. Muen turned around, feeling angry: Who dares to provoke me at this time? Just when I have so much pent-up frustration!
He lunged forward like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey, pinning it to the ground. He raised his sharp claws, ready to strike down fiercely, but suddenly froze in mid-air.
It turned out that Anyuan had followed him without him noticing. At that moment, she stood frozen in place, filled with fear, terrified that if she uttered a word, her throat would be torn open by those claws.
