“Does ‘female’ mean woman?”
Anyuan glanced at the tail behind Muen and finally understood that they referred to themselves as Beastmen, not the monsters he had imagined.
After a moment of thought, he said, “I’m fine with anything; you decide.”
Muen noticed his gaze and felt a bit shy, blushing as he asked, “Do you like my tail? I think it’s quite cute—fluffy and very agile.”
Suddenly praised for his “female” attributes, Muen’s face turned even redder, resembling a ripe apple. He shyly replied, “I always thought you didn’t like it. I almost cut it off once; I nearly became a Without Tail Leopard. They all say I’m an underdeveloped Beastman.”
As he spoke, he lowered his head sadly, looking dejected.
“Who said that? Let me go teach him a lesson and get some revenge for you,” Anyuan teased him in an exaggerated tone. Upon hearing this, Muen instantly perked up, transforming into his black panther form and leaping onto Anyuan, excitedly licking his face with slobber, resembling a big pet seeking affection.
He was a boy but was treated as a female by the Beastmen; those male Beastmen were eager to have eight beast Cubs with him. The Black Panther Beastman felt green with envy, thinking to himself: Back off! The Little Female is mine; no one else can take him away.
After Anyuan agreed to accompany Muen to his tribe, the two packed their things and set off the next day.
If Muen ran at his usual speed, it would take them a day and night to reach their destination, especially since he was now carrying the frail Anyuan.
Along the way, the Little Female stopped frequently—sometimes to wash in a stream and other times to admire the sunset—taking it all leisurely.
Anyuan held wild fruits in his hands, eating as they walked, while Muen carried two large tiger skins on his back along with clanging bamboo tubes, pots, and bowls hanging from his waist. With an incredibly heavy stone pot added to the mix, he looked like a human storage rack—quite comical yet radiating a unique warmth.
As they walked, it took them half a month before they finally encountered signs of civilization. Anyuan gazed at the somewhat shabby little village in the distance, feeling a strange sense of returning to the human world, while Muen grew increasingly anxious with each step.
Suddenly, he grabbed Anyuan's hand, his eyes flickering with unspoken words, as if he had a thousand things to say but didn't know where to begin.
"Muen, what's wrong?" Anyuan sensed something was off and asked with concern.
"Anan, I..." He hesitated, wanting to express that he wished she wouldn't get too close to other male Beastmen, but the words just wouldn't come out.
In their tribe, such behavior would be seen as jealousy and pettiness by their kin, which could hinder harmony among the Beastmen and might even lead to disapproval from females.
But he truly didn't want to share Anyuan with anyone else; his heart was in turmoil.
Anyuan waited for a long time but received no further explanation. Her curiosity grew stronger, and she couldn't help but ask again, "What’s going on?"
Muen let his head droop weakly and muttered two words: "It's nothing."
Anyuan wasn't very good at comforting others. After thinking for a moment, she decided to offer comfort through action and gently held Muen's hand.
The two walked hand in hand, attracting many curious glances from the Beastmen along the way. Everyone looked at them with expressions full of curiosity and intrigue.
A familiar Beastman approached them and greeted Muen, "Muen, you're back! We haven't seen you for months!"
After speaking, the Beastman turned to Anyuan and his eyes suddenly lit up with surprise. "Wow, you're so beautiful! Are you a female?"
