Merry's beautiful eyes were filled with astonishment.
They didn't say anything, but from their identical gazes, it was clear that their thoughts aligned with Merry's. However, could the Crimson Key truly draw out all the Anomalous Entities of Cthulhu Town?
The one who spoke was the Sequencer who had previously recognized Yelai as human. A powerful Sequencer, especially one possessing the Crimson Key, could attract some Anomalous Entities to establish contact due to their strength. This situation was not uncommon; some of them had been fortunate enough to witness it.
Yet, no matter how enticing a Sequencer might be, it shouldn't lead to such a large gathering of entities. Typically, only a few would be drawn in. But now, every Anomalous Entity in Cthulhu Town seemed to emerge, eager to connect with Yelai.
It was important to note that Cthulhu Town had seen Sequencers without the Crimson Key before, and none had ever caused such a phenomenon. In fact, similar situations had never occurred. The Anomalous Entities of Cthulhu Town had only come out once when they encountered a Sequencer with the Crimson Key.
Merry and Yous exchanged glances. They could see the shock and confusion reflected in each other's eyes. Upon learning that Yelai had triggered the Anomalous Entities of Cthulhu Town to emerge, they considered many possibilities but never imagined that the entities would want to establish contact with Yelai.
"He's special," Yous murmured.
Merry looked at Yous as if he were an idiot. "Do you really need to say that?"
Of course, he was special. The question remained: what made him so special?
At the very least, he was the Sequencer of the Crimson Key.
Merry, with her sapphire-like eyes typical of Westerners, reflected Yelai's figure, her gaze flickering with unspoken thoughts that no one could decipher.
Indeed. Yous cast a glance at Merry.
Though he didn't know what made Yelai special, it was clear that he must be a Sequencer of the Crimson Key; otherwise, it would be impossible for an Anomalous Entity to initiate contact.
Anomalous Entities were notoriously selective. Generally, they wouldn't reach out unless it involved the Crimson Key.
They speculated and wondered.
Yelai was equally busy with his thoughts.
Regarding the actions of the Anomalous Entities in Cthulhu Town, he was momentarily taken aback before quickly arriving at an answer. It was because they had witnessed his previous interaction with Cthulhu three times ago, coupled with the Black Sequence Key, that they wished to establish contact with him now.
Anomalous Entities typically lacked intelligence, provided their Sequence Rank was low. However, during those three encounters, he had been dragged away by Cthulhu and had fought alongside Anomalous Entities, navigating life and death. He understood well that high-ranking Anomalous Entities possessed intelligence.
The Anomalous Entities before him were indeed of high Sequence Rank. Moreover, they were not merely ranked above three as Yous and others had assessed; their Sequence Rank was much higher than that.
This was indeed the case. When these Anomalous Entities sensed Yelai's arrival, their long-buried memories from three encounters ago resurfaced. They were astonished; they hadn't expected that human to return after such a long time.
They believed that during those three encounters, Yelai had not returned and must have died for sure. Yet the reality contradicted their assumptions.
Yelai had survived.
Cthulhu clearly hadn't killed Yelai. Just this fact alone made them eager to establish contact with him, not to mention that Yelai's Sequence Key was black.
