In the eyes of the Anomalous Entity, actively establishing a connection with the Sequencer was a sign of respect. If rejected, it would be seen as a slight, likely provoking the anger of the Anomalous Entity.
Now, Yelai had just turned down one such Anomalous Entity. If they were to become enraged, Yous and the others would inevitably be caught in the crossfire.
Yous hesitated before speaking up, "This is Cthulhu Town; those Anomalous Entities cannot act here." In the past, these Anomalous Entities would have been bound by the rules of Cthulhu Town and refrained from taking action. However, with Yelai's arrival, he was uncertain whether those rules still applied.
He felt a sense of unease creeping in. Especially now, as Yelai's rejection hung in the air, he anticipated the wrath of the Anomalous Entities or their dispersal, yet neither occurred. Why weren't they leaving? What was going on with them?
Merry felt her palms sweating with anxiety. In this precarious situation where death could strike at any moment, no amount of her usual cunning could calm her nerves. The circumstances were too bizarre.
Despite Yelai's clear rejection, the Anomalous Entities remained fixated on him, their gaze unwavering as they raised their hands once more. Their actions seemed to indicate that they were not ready to give up on establishing a connection with Yelai.
As this thought crossed her mind, everyone felt a wave of Madness wash over them. When did the Anomalous Entities become so desperate? Hadn't they always been aloof and indifferent? Why was it different this time with this Daxia People?
Confused and anxious, they struggled to comprehend the situation. Yelai was equally taken aback. He looked at the nearest Anomalous Entity, which had three eyes fixed on him and showed no sign of lowering its raised hand. He couldn't help but shake his head and smile.
It seems I need to use Cthulhu to pull some strings.
Thinking this, Yelai spoke up.
"I know what you all are planning, but as I said before, I'm not considering it for now." With that, Yelai smiled and glanced back towards the Stone Platform outside the town, then turned to face the Anomalous Entity in front of him, adding leisurely, "You wouldn't want to lose your residency rights in Cthulhu Town, would you?"
Meanwhile, the men present, including Yous, though they couldn't understand what Yelai was saying, felt an inexplicable familiarity with his demeanor and words. It was as if they had seen this before; they somehow understood what Yelai was implying. Was it just an illusion? Was he threatening those Anomalous Entities? Yous raised an eyebrow.
On the other side, it seemed that the three-eyed Anomalous Entity understood Yelai's words. Its body stiffened slightly.
In the next moment, it gave Yelai a deep look before silently turning around and walking back to the houses of Cthulhu Town.
Like a domino effect, the other Anomalous Entities also ceased their standoff and began to retreat into their homes.
Creak. Creak.
The wooden bolts of the doors turned, one by one, as the doors of Cthulhu Town were closed.
In just a few minutes, what had once been an utterly terrifying Cthulhu Town returned to its dangerous yet eerily quiet state.
Yous and the others finally let out a sigh of relief.
"My God, someone help me; I feel like my legs are giving way."
Oh, my dear buddy, if your legs are weak, that's one thing, but I feel like I've almost leaked a few drops out of fear. I swear to God, I really never want to go through something like today again in my life.
