Instead, Yelai seemed to have drawn Merry's attention.
"What is he doing?" Merry tilted her head in confusion.
"I have no idea," Yous replied, equally puzzled.
At that moment, while Yelai was with them, he couldn't help but glance around the Stone Platform. Before long, a look of delight appeared on his face as if he had discovered something.
Ignoring the curious gazes of Merry and Yous, he made his way to the southern side of the Stone Platform. There stood a wooden signpost.
This was quite common in Cthulhu Town; it indicated the house number associated with the buildings. The architecture of Cthulhu Town showcased a Western style reminiscent of old wooden structures from the 1970s and 80s.
Upon closer inspection, the wooden sign not only displayed the house number but also bore a mark. To an outsider, it might appear as mere scribbles, but to Yelai, it was a secret signal shared between him and his girlfriend, Luo Zhenxue—something only they understood.
Yelai crouched down and began to dig beneath the signpost. Soon enough, he unearthed something.
"What is that?" Merry leaned in curiously to take a look.
Yous also approached, glancing at what Yelai held in his hand. It was a stone engraved with strange Sequence symbols.
"Is that a Sequence Coordinate Stone?"
After examining it closely, both Yous and Merry confirmed that what Yelai held was indeed a Sequence Coordinate Stone. Each Safe Zone possessed its own Teleportation Altar, a remarkable object discovered during humanity's struggle against Anomalous Entities, capable of teleporting people and items to designated locations.
The Sequence Coordinate was much like Geographical Coordinates. To travel from one Safe Zone to another, one could either walk or rely on each other's Transmission Altar, provided they knew the coordinates of the other Safe Zone's altar.
In Yelai's hand was the Sequence Coordinate Stone, which marked the coordinates of a specific Safe Zone's Transmission Altar, allowing for Teleportation to that Teleportation Altar.
Yelai tightly gripped the Sequence Coordinate Stone, and the coordinates of the Safe Zone immediately flashed in his mind. This was specially prepared for him by Luo Zhenxue. She still held onto a glimmer of hope, believing that he might have a chance to resurrect. For this reason, she had left him with the secret code and the Sequence Coordinate Stone in Cthulhu Town. The intention was that one day, if he came back to life, he could use the Sequence Coordinate Stone to reach the Safe Zone. After all, it was essential to have the Sequence Coordinate Stone to leave Cthulhu Town.
It seemed he was worried about losing the coordinate stone outside the town, so he buried it in advance for easy access later. Yous speculated and nodded to himself; Yelai had indeed thought things through.
Unbeknownst to Yelai, Yous's thoughts were wandering as he filled in the hole and stomped down a few times to compact the ground before brushing off the dust from his pants and standing up. He needed to head straight to the Safe Zone. The thought of seeing Luo Zhenxue made his heart race with excitement.
"Mr. Ye Lai, are you leaving? Why not come sit with us? I would love to hear about what’s happening outside the town," Merry said, unwilling to let such an extraordinary person slip away easily.
"No, I have things to do. Perhaps we will meet again someday," Yelai replied as he made his way to Cthulhu Town's Transmission Altar. He placed the Sequence Coordinate Stone on the Transmission Altar and activated it for Teleportation.
With a whoosh! Light gathered like starlight, swirling into a vortex in an instant. Yelai waved goodbye to Yous and the others without a hint of reluctance and stepped into the Light Vortex.
