A chilling silence enveloped the surroundings, sending a shiver down one's spine. Yet, as Yelai stood before the End of the Sequence environment, he felt no fear; instead, he found himself surprisingly relaxed. The atmosphere here was far more vibrant compared to that of Cthulhu Town.
He moved swiftly, unburdened by surveillance and no longer needing to conceal his strength. Following the traces left by Zhang Yinlin, he made his way towards her group. His speed was astonishing. If Zhang Yinlin were here, she would undoubtedly be shocked; Yelai was moving much faster now than when they had fought.
It seemed that during their encounter, it was not Zhang Yinlin who had held back, but rather Yelai. Time passed quickly. Relying on the clues left by Zhang Yinlin, Yelai pieced together the purpose of Zhong Zhi and their journey. He recalled that they were headed towards Hu Family Village.
Drawing from his familiarity with the area surrounding the Safe Zone, Yelai opened his map. With the clues provided by Zhang Yinlin, he deduced that they were on their way to Hu Family Village. Calculating the time, they should be nearing their destination.
As it turned out, he was correct. Two miles away from Hu Family Village, several black SUVs were parked along the roadside.
"Students, remember this: to prevent any Anomalous Entity from approaching the Safe Zone, the Defense Team conducts regular sweeps around it to deal with any nearby threats," Zhang Yinlin explained patiently to the thirty or so children present. "However, human resources are limited, and we can only clear a certain area, which is referred to as the temporary safe zone. Generally, there shouldn't be any Anomalous Entity within this range."
She continued, "That's why we were able to drive here without worrying too much about encountering any threats. Now that we've left the safe zone, we can't drive anymore because outside of it is an area where Anomalous Entity are active, and driving could attract them."
"So next, we need to get out of the vehicle and proceed quietly on foot. Do you understand? Nod if you do."
As she spoke, Zhong Zhi observed her actions closely and subtly exchanged glances with the nearby Vice Captain.
The Vice Captain calmly reached into his pocket and pressed the speed dial on his phone, quietly making a call.
"Let's move out."
After speaking to Zhang Yinlin, Zhong Zhi took the lead and led the team forward. Zhang Yinlin said nothing in response. She exchanged glances with Captain Zhao, who discreetly signaled their hidden squad nearby.
Although Zhong Zhi appeared calm, she knew the others couldn't be at ease. According to their prior plan, the hidden squad would follow them and scout ahead at Hu Family Village to check for any ambushes or traps.
Both sides were silently executing their own arrangements.
Meanwhile, Yelai was also busy. Minutes after Zhang Yinlin and the others disembarked and began walking, he appeared on the road where their vehicle was parked.
"Is this the safe zone? The area seems larger than before."
Yelai approached the car and touched the hood, which still retained some warmth, indicating they hadn't gone far. It seemed they were heading toward Hu Family Village on foot.
He opened the map to check their route. Given that they were accompanied by many children, Zhong Zhi wouldn't venture too deep into dangerous territory to confront Zhang Yinlin's group; their destination was likely the nearest Hu Family Village ahead.
Without hesitation, he confirmed the situation and immediately headed toward Hu Family Village. He and Zhang Yinlin had planned to catch up with their team and then merge with the hidden Sixth Squad.
The Third Squad and Sixth Team were led by Captain Zhao in plain sight to protect the children, while the Sixth Squad was a covert team arranged by Zhang Yinlin for support and contingency plans.
He promptly called the Sixth Squad.
