The Fifth Squad Captain voiced his speculation, startled by his own thoughts. The taming of Anomalous Entities was indeed a reality, but as he understood it, it was extremely difficult. So far, successful cases had only been reported in the top-ranked Safe Zones, and never had a Safe Zone with a three-digit ranking achieved success.
Was this even possible? Uncle Zhou raised an eyebrow. If what the Fifth Squad Captain said was true, then Yelai's current behavior made sense. Incorporeal Anomalous Entities posed an even greater challenge due to their lack of physical form, making capture difficult, let alone taming them. They had never tamed an Anomalous Entity before, but they at least knew that to tame an Anomalous Entity, one must first observe and understand it to determine the appropriate taming method.
However, with Incorporeal Anomalous Entities being invisible and intangible, it was impossible to even see or touch them. Therefore, those Safe Zones that had successfully tamed Anomalous Entities had never attempted to select Incorporeal types as targets for taming. Even to this day, in the Year of the Sequence, they had never heard of any Safe Zone successfully taming an Incorporeal Anomalous Entity.
Was Yelai simply too ambitious?
The Fifth Squad Captain held a skeptical attitude. The strength of the rank was indeed qualified to tame an Anomalous Entity, but there was no need to seek out an Incorporeal Anomalous Entity for taming. Let it be; as long as things didn't go too far out of hand.
Uncle Zhou closed his eyes, looking utterly helpless. However, it was as if he had spoken a curse; what he feared seemed to come true. No sooner had he said it than—
Gaze, who was being mercilessly beaten by Yelai, seemed to sense something and glanced toward a nearby house. There, in the corner, four small orange cats peeked out.

The small orange cats looked tiny, and from their size and mewing, it was clear they were just a few months old kittens. Perhaps due to their young age and underdeveloped state, they were curious about the commotion outside after hearing the continuous sounds of struggle.
At that moment, Gaze seized the opportunity.

The team member possessed by Gaze let out a monstrous, inhuman roar, locking eyes with the four small orange cats. The intention was clear: to scare off the kittens with a loud shout and possess one of them to escape amidst the chaos.
And just as expected, the possessed team member's body went limp before Yelai and fell dead. Trying to run away? It wouldn't be that easy.
Yelai's pupils reflected the four little cats. He had never relaxed his vigilance against Gaze. The moment Gaze let out that roar, he immediately sensed something was off.
He watched as the four small orange cats scattered like startled birds, frightened into hiding in the crevices of the corner.
"What happened?"
Uncle Zhou's lips twitched, wishing he could slap himself for being such a jinx; whatever he said seemed to come true.
Yelai heard the commotion from where they were, the first time hearing the roar of Gaze, and everyone jumped in surprise. They almost opened their eyes.
"Don't open your eyes, it's fine. I'm in control."
Yelai reminded Uncle Zhou and the others, then charged ahead towards the Small Orange Cats.
The Small Orange Cats were running around in a panic. No matter which one they chased, it could cause the others to scatter. After all, they were small creatures; if they hid in a corner, it would be hard to find them.
And if they mistakenly targeted one possessed by Gaze, it would surely escape.
If Uncle Zhou and the others opened their eyes, they would undoubtedly understand how dire the situation was.
However, without a moment's hesitation, Yelai moved swiftly, sniffing the air as he decisively pursued one of the Small Orange Cats.
