At that moment, Yelai observed the expressions of Xu Limin and the others, smiling as he asked, "Is there anything else you need to ask me about the events?"
He wasn't afraid of them uncovering what they thought was a lie, for he indeed had not lied. He had truly encountered the Anomalous Entity after his resurrection and established contact with it through the Sequence Key. There was no possibility of them seeing through his supposed deception, as it was simply the truth.
As for where he had met the Anomalous Entity, he hadn't lied about that either; it was indeed in the world of Cthulhu Town, though just outside of it. He didn't specify further, merely mentioning Cthulhu Town to obscure the details.
There are no lies that go undiscovered in this world. Yelai understood this well, so he didn't deliberately lie but rather generalized some aspects of the actual events.
Even if Xu Limin were to ask him for specifics, he wouldn't mind sharing; after all, many had explored outside Cthulhu Town before, so it wasn't a big deal. Ultimately, his true purpose as a Sequencer wasn't about establishing contact with the Anomalous Entity but rather concerning the Sequence Key itself.
However, he wasn't worried if Xu Limin guessed that the core issue was indeed the Sequence Key. Sure enough, as Yelai proactively inquired further, Xu Limin pondered for a moment before suddenly narrowing his eyes and asking, "Mr. Ye Lai, may I see your Sequence Key?"
Yelai raised an eyebrow at this request. As a globally renowned Sequence Scholar, Xu Limin had indeed deduced the significance of the Sequence Key.
Then Yelai frowned. "That's not appropriate; how can I just show it to anyone? But fine, I'll let you see it since everyone already knows what my Sequence Key looks like. Just to be clear though—don't make fun of me."
Xu Limin listened intently, his demeanor serious as he responded.
How could I be a joke? I'm not a joke. The White Key is not something to be ashamed of; many people possess a White Key. This is a request he made after careful consideration.
Whether a person can become a Sequencer depends on whether the Sequence Key can establish a connection with an Anomalous Entity. The Sequence Key is the key factor. To be precise, it refers to the color of the key.
Under normal circumstances, a Sequencer would not show their Sequence Key to others, in order to avoid revealing the color of their Sequence Key. As for being stolen or destroyed, a Sequencer does not worry about that, simply because the Sequence Key is a manifestation of one's self. In other words, it is merely a materialized object. As long as a person does not die, their Sequence Key can be re-manifested.
At that moment, Yelai closed his eyes, his right hand pressed against his heart, and in his mind appeared a pitch-black Sequence Key. At that instant, light burst forth from the palm of his right hand. Just before manifesting the Sequence Key, he focused his thoughts. The originally dark Black Sequence Key in his mind transformed into a White Sequence Key at his will.
After his resurrection, Yelai discovered that when the White Key turned into the Black Key, he could revert the Black Key back to the White Key. Later, outside Cthulhu Town, he realized that it could not only change back to white but also transform into various colors such as red, yellow, blue, and green.
Because of these discoveries, he was not afraid of Xu Limin uncovering the truth about his Sequence Key.
With a soft sound, as the light in his palm faded away, Yelai opened his right hand to reveal a pure white ancient Chinese key, quietly hovering in his palm.
