The Security personnel in charge of the Transmission Altar shouted towards Yelai and the others arriving at the Numbered Protection Zone.
The Defense Team had detected a large-scale Entity advancing towards the Safe Zone, having already crossed into its secure area. They urged everyone to follow them to the shelter located in the basement of the nearby gymnasium. As he spoke, he cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled.
"Are there any Sequencers among the arriving individuals?"
According to the third clause of the Sequence Law, if a Safe Zone encounters a large-scale invasion by Entities, any Sequencer, regardless of origin, must assist in defending that Safe Zone against the Entity incursion.
"Is there a Sequencer present?"
If so, please help us fend off the Entity invasion. His voice was hoarse from shouting repeatedly, yet he continued to call out, desperate to aid the Safe Zone in resisting the Entities.
Since the advent of Sequence Element, national sentiments had faded; what remained was humanity's necessity to unite against the invasion of Entities.
In that moment, whether out of adherence to the Sequence Law or a desire to prevent others from experiencing the same tragic farewells as his friends did three years ago, Yelai heard the Security personnel's call and led Gaze towards them.
He presented his Sequencer identification card. "What do you need me to do?"
It wasn't just Yelai who stepped forward. Like a domino effect, several others followed suit, each presenting their own Sequencer identification cards alongside Yelai.
"Wonderful! Thank you all for your assistance!" The Security personnel quickly bowed in gratitude and pointed to an armored vehicle not far away.
"Please board that armored vehicle; our team will take you to the Safe Zone Defense Point."
Yelai nodded and began leading Gaze towards the armored vehicle when a Security personnel stopped him.
"Excuse me, but you can hand over your dogs to us first. We can take care of them for you; rest assured, we will ensure their safety."
At that moment, the fellow Sequencer also noticed the Husky that Yelai was holding. If it were during the era of hot weapon warfare, dogs could still be useful on the battlefield. Taking a dog to confront an Entity would simply be offering a meal to the Entity.
And then, in the next second.
"Thank you for your kindness," Yelai declined the offer from the Security personnel, much to the surprise of the accompanying Sequencer. Those dogs might be related to his Sequence. It was also possible that the dogs were Entities. There was a chance that they were Hounds.
Upon Yelai's refusal, the Sequencers present began to whisper among themselves, sensing something unusual.
Soon after, they quickly took a picture of Yelai's identification card. The armored vehicle headed towards the Safe Zone Defense Point. As the Security personnel watched them leave, they were not idle; they made a phone call to inform the Defense Point's Defense Team about Yelai's mission to resist.
"Got it, I've received your message," said a burly man at the Defense Point's Temporary Command Post as he looked at the identification card of Yelai sent by the Security personnel. "Did they specify their Rank?"
"The situation was urgent, so I didn't ask," came the reply.
"Alright, I understand. I'll arrange their defensive position here." The man spoke straightforwardly without hesitation. "You wait a bit longer at the Transmission Altar; we're short on personnel right now. Let's see if we can get more Sequencers over."
Once he received confirmation from the Security personnel, he hung up and turned to another staff member. "What's the current situation?"
"Captain, we've received a distress signal from Signal Point. They say they're about to collapse; Tenth Squad has lost all contact, and only three members of Eighteenth Squad are left. Right now, only Ninth Squad is holding out there."
