It is well known that even when a Sequencer uses Sequence and pays the price, it does not mean they will be free from harm. No matter how the price is paid, it ultimately poses a danger to both body and mind. The Sequence Scholar refers to this condition as the Cost of Payment Side Effects, or simply Sequence Side Effects.
There are many types of side effects, specifically related to the price paid by the Sequencer. Yelai, as a Sequencer, is no exception; he experiences side effects alongside the price he pays. However, his side effects do not affect his body like those of Zhang Yinlin. Instead, they impact his mind.
The more he absorbs fear to pay the price, the more he becomes influenced by that fear, much like an addiction. Over time, his body will uncontrollably crave fear, and if left unchecked, he risks losing his sanity and devolving into a creature akin to the Anomalous Entity of Fear—one that exists solely to create and consume fear.
At this moment, without anyone else around, he no longer needs to hold back or hide his true intentions. Yelai made a decision. He would instill fear in all Acupoints to absorb a vast amount of it, thereby rapidly increasing his Rank. This was also a way to alleviate the mental effects brought on by his own side effects.
Thus, he resolved to no longer suppress his Sequence Side Effects or restrain his desire for fear. He would fully transform into an Anomalous Entity of Fear that resembled a human.

It emitted a series of fragrant yet terrifying scents that were overwhelming for Yelai. Yelai became increasingly consumed by Madness, biting and gnawing at the other Acupoints and Dead Points, further stimulating the fear within the Acupoints.
During this time, the other Acupoints also launched attacks against Yelai. However, Yelai easily evaded and repelled them in various inhuman ways. This style of combat was nothing like Yelai's previous encounters with the first Rank Acupoint.
