Yelai and the others were laughing and chatting, completely ignoring the presence of Deo trailing behind them.
At that moment, Deo felt as if he could crush his back teeth in frustration. The person he admired, Luo Zhenxue, had actually established a relationship with the man in front of him, and they seemed utterly infatuated with each other, like a young couple in love. This made him feel a wave of jealousy wash over him.
Quickly, Yelai and his group were led by the front desk staff to a room at the back of the first-floor hall marked for Rank testing. As the four of them entered the room, Deo and the other Sequence members who had followed closely arrived at the glass window of the testing room.
The testing room was not enclosed; it featured a large glass wall that allowed outsiders to see the test results inside. This was all for show. The Safe Zone wanted everyone to know about their exceptional Sequence talents, so they specifically designed open testing rooms that could be viewed from outside for promotional purposes.
At that moment, Yelai stood in front of a long rectangular platform in the center of the room. On the platform lay an irregularly shaped stone connected to various instruments leading to a computer screen.
"Yelai, please insert your Sequence Key into the Rank Stone," instructed the front desk staff, pointing to a keyhole-like opening on the Rank Stone.
Yelai nodded and placed his right hand over his chest. In an instant, a brilliant light erupted as his Sequence Key materialized.
At that very moment, Deo and the other Sequence members at the glass window were wide-eyed, staring intently at Yelai's Sequence Key in his right hand.
As Deo had mentioned, it wasn't just him; the other Sequence members were also curious about what made Yelai worthy of Luo Zhenxue's affection. Surely it couldn't just be because he was handsome.
The answer was clearly not that simple. There were plenty of guys more attractive than Yelai, and Luo Zhenxue had pursued many who were better looking than him.
Excluding looks, Rank, and status from consideration, their first thought turned to talent—specifically, the color of his Sequence Key.
In an instant...
They stared at the Sequence Key displayed by Yelai, pondering what kind of red it might be. After all, Deo was entirely red, so would Luo Zhenxue's boyfriend be fully red as well, or perhaps an even more impressive deep red, or just as deep red as Luo Zhenxue?
Soon enough, as they eagerly awaited, they saw Yelai's Sequence Key, and then they were all dumbfounded.
"Hey? Am I blind, or has this glass been replaced with some blue material that makes the red invisible?"
"White? No, where's the red?!"
"My God, are you kidding me? A pure white Sequence Key!"
Outside the room, Deo was stunned, and everyone exchanged bewildered glances, filled with various expressions.
For a moment, inside the room, the front desk staff rubbed their eyes and instinctively blurted out.
"A useless key? Ah, sorry, I didn't mean that." She waved her hands in panic.
As a front desk employee, blaspheming against the Safe Zone's Sequence Vice Captain was a grave sin.
"It's fine."
Yelai smiled and shook his head lightly, showing no surprise.
"You didn't say anything wrong; my Sequence Key is indeed the Pure White Sequence Key, which means it's a useless key."
Instantly, both inside and outside the testing room fell silent.
It really is a useless key. One of the Sequence Vice Captains looked strange.
But before he could share his astonishment with the other Sequences gathered by the glass window, Yelai inserted the Sequence Key into the Rank Stone. The nearby computer screen flashed with the number seven.
They couldn't control their emotions for a moment.
He really is Rank Seven?
"Oh my God, this is outrageous! A useless key has become a Rank Seven Sequence."
"I can't believe where he found such extraordinary talent." The more he spoke, the stranger his expression became until he finally managed to say: "Becoming a Rank Seven Sequence with a useless key is indeed a remarkable feat."
