At that moment, Yelai appeared calm on the surface, but internally he was filled with surprise. The Eyeballs of the Tongue Sequence Creature were almost identical to his own Eyeballs. Given this, Yelai had reason to believe that his Eyeballs and those of the creature were a pair.
"Is this why you sought me out as a teammate?" Yelai squinted and asked.
The Tongue Sequence Creature nodded in acknowledgment. It seemed unafraid of Yelai snatching its Eyeballs, extending its slender finger to point at the Eyeballs in its hand, then gesturing towards Yelai.
Though the gestures were simple, Yelai could vaguely understand their meaning. "You know I have Eyeballs too, don't you?" he boldly probed.
This was not recklessness on his part; rather, it stemmed from the fact that the Tongue Sequence Creature dared to show him its Eyeballs. He didn't believe that it would casually reveal a Secret Artifact to him unless it was aware that he also possessed Eyeballs. He was convinced that the Tongue Sequence Creature sought him out precisely because it knew he had Eyeballs.
At the same time, facing Yelai's probing, the Tongue Sequence Creature nodded directly, its large eyes curving into a rare smile, revealing its sharp teeth as if to convey silently: "You’re clever; that's exactly what I mean."
Yelai did not respond. After receiving the Tongue Sequence Creature's confirmation, he pondered further. Among the types of Secret Artifacts, there indeed existed sets of items; for instance, it was said that the Numbered Protection Zone had a set consisting of teacups and a teapot.
Thus, it was not surprising for Yelai to find that Eyeballs came in pairs. What truly astonished him was how these Eyeballs, as part of a set Secret Artifact, differed from what he knew about other sets of Secret Artifacts. Typically, a complete set of Secret Artifacts contained multiple objects, but they shared the same Sequence Power.
It was not like this.
Yelai's thoughts raced as his gaze fell upon the Eyeballs that the Tongue Sequence Creature had rolled up and sent into its mouth. The activation condition for the Eyeballs' Sequence Power was to be held in the mouth and become invisible. However, the Tongue Sequence Creature kept the Eyeballs in its mouth, so why hadn’t it turned invisible? Could it be that the Eyeballs' Sequence Power did not grant invisibility?
This contradicted the common knowledge about Secret Artifacts.
With this thought, Yelai came up with two unsettling hypotheses. The first was that a Secret Artifact could possess more than one type of Sequence Power; for instance, the two Eyeballs might have different Sequence Powers! The second was that the Eyeballs might not be a Secret Artifact at all, but rather an Anomalous Entity!
As he pondered these possibilities, he didn’t just stare blankly at the Tongue Sequence Creature; instead, he engaged in a series of exchanges with it.
"Are you teaming up with me to get my Eyeballs?" he asked, accompanied by a nod from the Tongue Sequence Creature.
Yelai furrowed his brow and continued, "Are you suggesting that if I help you complete the amusement park ride and solve your problem, you'll give me the Eyeballs as a reward?"
The Tongue Sequence Creature shook its head, pointed at Yelai, then pointed at itself.
Yelai couldn't help but speculate, "What do you mean? Are you saying that if I help you, you’ll help me too, and we’ll work together to complete the amusement park ride's Stamp?"
Seeing the Tongue Sequence Creature nod in agreement made Yelai's expression turn strange. But before he could respond further, the Tongue Sequence Creature pointed again at Yelai, then at its mouth, and finally at the floor.
"I don’t quite understand what you mean."
Yelai frowned.
If you want us to help each other complete the Stamp, what gives you the right to ask me for Eyeballs?
