After laying the quilt and clothes brought up the mountain over the frame, a simple tent was completed. However, not everyone could set up the tent in one go. Many people, after partially assembling their tents, realized that the branches they had collected were unsuitable, or after finishing, found that the tent couldn't stand at all and would collapse with a touch. These individuals had to go back to search for suitable branches and start all over again.
"Dad, Mom, I set up the tent!" A young man had finally managed to pitch his tent after several hours and was ready to invite his parents to stay inside. At that moment, he noticed a burly man standing in front of his tent.
"Dongzi, your tent looks good. Mind if I take it?" The man standing there was muscular and intimidating, with a fierce expression on his face. His name was Sun Hu, a notorious bully from Dragon Ridge Village.
Upon hearing Sun Hu's words, the young man's face stiffened. He knew that Sun Hu wasn't asking; if he dared to refuse, Sun Hu would immediately knock him down.
"Brother Tiger, my parents are old and just suffered from the smoke. Could you possibly..." Before the young man could finish his sentence, Sun Hu stepped forward and roughly shoved him, causing him to stumble.
"Just give it to me without all this nonsense." Sun Hu's eyes were filled with menace as he shouted at the young man, "Get lost quickly, or I'll take your parents down with you."
Dongzi trembled in fear, his legs shaking uncontrollably. He dared not argue with Sun Hu any longer and left the tent with his parents.
For a long time, Sun Hu had relied on his immense strength and ruthless nature to dominate the village. He bullied both men and women without anyone daring to oppose him. Once, an old man named Liu had spoken out against him and ended up with a broken leg from a shovel strike by Sun Hu. At that time, everyone thought Sun Hu would serve time for it, but somehow he managed to get released after only a few days in detention.
Since then, the villagers avoided Sun Hu at all costs, enduring his bullying in silence.
"Haha, this tent is quite sturdy." Without any effort, he had acquired a tent for himself. Sun Hu hummed a cheerful tune as he lifted the flap and entered inside.
However, the young man had it rough. After spending several hours painstakingly setting up his tent, it had now become someone else's property. He could only go back to search for branches, hoping to set up his tent before dark; otherwise, it would be even harder to do so in the dim light of night.
"Director Wang, we are looking for water to the north."
Climbing the mountain with just food and bedding was already a struggle; no one had the extra energy to carry water. So, Wang Fugui arranged for a few villagers who had already set up their tents to search for a water source in this desolate mountain.
After they found water, they reported back to Wang Fugui, who followed them to the edge of a stream. The water here looked relatively clean, flowing steadily with pebbles and silt clearly visible beneath the surface, along with aquatic plants swaying with the current.
"Everyone, use your buckets to collect some water from here. Remember to boil it before drinking; there might be parasites in this water."
After hearing Wang Fugui's words, several villagers took out their buckets and bent down to scoop up water.
