Early the next morning, Lu Xiaoran and Kong Hongmei stepped out of the shelter and approached a car parked nearby.
"Lu Xiaoran, you drive this car," Kong Hongmei commanded, pointing proudly at the driver's seat.
Your ability is useless right now; when it comes time to grab supplies, you won't be able to do anything. So you need to do something else to make it fair.
Kong Hongmei felt that if Lu Xiaoran did nothing but follow her around, it would be too easy for him. Therefore, she had to assign him some other tasks to feel balanced in her heart.
Lu Xiaoran said nothing and opened the car door, taking his place in the driver's seat. He drove down the mountain towards the neighborhood they were heading to that day.
Before long, the car stopped beside a residential building. After both of them got out, they climbed the stairs together.
Standing at the door of Zero One, Kong Hongmei turned to Lu Xiaoran and said, "You need to break this door down."
Lu Xiaoran looked exasperated. "Sister, why do I have to do everything? Can't you help out a bit?"
Kong Hongmei snorted dismissively and replied, "When we go to grab supplies later, I'll naturally take action. But for something that just requires brute force, it should be your job."
She looked at Lu Xiaoran with an air of entitlement. "What? You’re a big man; you can't handle this? Should I, as a weak woman, do it instead?"
Not wanting to argue further, Lu Xiaoran walked up to the door and raised his foot to kick it. With his strong ability, he could easily kick the door open if he used all his strength. However, that would surely raise Kong Hongmei's suspicions.
So Lu Xiaoran deliberately held back some of his strength and pretended to struggle as he kicked toward the doorknob.
Clang!
After kicking for three minutes, the door finally swung open with a shake. Just as it opened, a Middle Man burst out from inside, wielding a kitchen knife. Clearly, he was the resident of that room.
Hearing the sound of the door being smashed, he had already prepared a knife, ready to fight to the death against the intruders.
Without saying a word, the man swung his knife at Lu Xiaoran.
With his strong physique and quick reflexes, Lu Xiaoran easily dodged the man's attack by stepping aside.
Seeing Lu Xiaoran evade, the Middle Man turned around and aimed his knife at Kong Hongmei, who was closer to him.
Kong Hongmei remained calm and waved her hand in front of the man. Flames erupted from her palm, instantly igniting the man's shirt.
The Middle Man let out a terrible scream as the kitchen knife fell from his hand and clattered to the ground.
He struggled and desperately ran back into his house, trying to find water to extinguish the flames on his body.
However, Kong Hongmei did not give him a chance to escape. She quickly followed closely behind him, her flames swirling like a crimson serpent, tightly wrapping around the man's body.
Before long, he collapsed to the ground, reduced to a charred corpse.
"Lu Xiaoran, go check in the kitchen and see if there's anything edible."
