If it weren't for that van and those four dead strangers, the prime suspect in the murder of Ma Zhibiao would undoubtedly be Lu Xiaoran. However, with the appearance of these unidentified individuals, Zhang Kai felt uncertain about their role in the entire incident.
If his suspicions were correct, and it was indeed these four people who drove the van to ram into Ma Zhibiao's car, then Lu Xiaoran might have no connection to this event at all. After all, Lu Xiaoran had previously stated that he parted ways with Ma Zhibiao at the foot of the mountain. He had gone up alone to return to the shelter while Ma Zhibiao drove back in his sedan to retrieve something.
If that were the case, it was entirely possible that Ma Zhibiao was targeted by these individuals on his way back and subsequently fell victim to their malicious intent.
"Yang Yin, did you see anything at the scene that could prove their identities?"
Yang Yin shook his head and explained to Zhang Kai, "I searched thoroughly with those three at the scene. We didn't find any identification that could prove who these people are."
Zhang Kai fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "Alright, Yang Yin. You can head back for now. Later, send me those photos via WeChat. I'll take a closer look and see if I can find any clues."
Just as Zhang Kai was about to turn away, Yang Yin stepped forward, visibly agitated. "Boss, the person who killed Little Ma must be that Lu Xiaoran he was monitoring before. Give me a gun, and I'll go take care of that bastard right now."
Zhang Kai shook his head in response. "If Lu Xiaoran wanted him dead, then why would those four strangers be there?"
Without hesitation, Yang Yin replied, "Isn't it obvious? Lu Xiaoran must have brought them along as helpers..."
But halfway through his sentence, Yang Yin realized the flaw in his reasoning. If Lu Xiaoran had indeed summoned these people, how could he possibly kill Ma Zhibiao and then eliminate all four of them afterward?
Yang Yin lowered his head, falling into a long silence.
"Xiao Yang," Zhang Kai said gently, "I know you're anxious, but don't rush into things. Let's get to the bottom of this before taking action."
"Little Ma is our brother. If it turns out that Lu Xiaoran is responsible for his death, I will stand by your side when we catch that bastard."
Zhang Kai patted Yang Yin on the shoulder, a cold smile creeping onto his lips as he continued, "Killing that kid outright would be too easy on him. When the time comes, I want to chop off his hands and feet and let him bleed out slowly while enduring unbearable pain."
Yang Yin nodded firmly in response. "Alright. I'll wait for you to clarify things before we act. If it really was that kid who killed Little Ma, he must pay with blood."
Watching Yang Yin leave through the door, Zhang Kai pondered silently in his heart.
There were still many unresolved questions regarding the recent incident. Even though Lu Xiaoran was highly suspicious, he couldn't act recklessly against him. The four individuals clad in Protective Gear were all armed, yet they had been beaten to a pulp, their bodies mangled and lifeless on the spot.
If Lu Xiaoran was indeed the one who killed them, then his abilities must be incredibly powerful. Acting against him might not guarantee victory; there was even a possibility that Lu Xiaoran could turn the tables and kill him instead.
It was essential to uncover Lu Xiaoran's true background before taking any action, at least to confirm whether he possessed a second Ability and if that Ability was indeed as formidable as Zhang Kai suspected.
