Lu Xiaoran looked at himself in the mirror and smacked his lips. "This Ability really does just change faces," he thought, finding it quite strange. He had already used his Ability to disguise himself as Zhang Kaiwen. The resemblance was so high that it could easily fool anyone into thinking he was the real Zhang Kaiwen.
Just then, as Lu Xiaoran continued to experiment with his new Ability in front of the mirror, the sound of a phone ringing suddenly filled the room. He walked over to check and saw that it was Yang Yin's phone ringing, with Zhang Kaiwen calling.
Seeing the caller ID on the screen, Lu Xiaoran couldn't help but furrow his brow slightly. This was a bit troublesome; if Zhang Kaiwen noticed that Yang Yin wasn't answering, he would definitely suspect something was off and might even trace it back to him.
Lu Xiaoran stood there deep in thought. He had already copied Yang Yin's and Tang Mo's Abilities, and with the other Abilities he had previously acquired, killing Zhang Kaiwen should not be too difficult. Once he eliminated Zhang Kaiwen, copying the Abilities of the other fifty or so Ability users in the shelter would be a piece of cake.
A cold smile crept onto Lu Xiaoran's lips as he devised a good plan that would allow him to easily copy the Abilities of all those in the shelter after killing Zhang Kaiwen. There was no point in hesitating any longer; it was time to take action.
If Zhang Kaiwen found out that Yang Yin's phone was unreachable, he would soon realize that Yang Yin was missing. Rather than waiting passively for Zhang Kaiwen to come looking for him, it would be better to strike first and eliminate him.
With his mind made up, Lu Xiaoran put on the Protective Gear he had left by the wall and picked up Tang Mo's handgun from the floor. He quietly opened the door and stepped outside.
At that moment, Zhang Kaiwen was in his room, looking puzzled at his phone that wouldn’t connect. Earlier that morning, Yang Yin and Tang Mo had come to report to him about what had just happened.
"What? You mean Lu Xiaoran disappeared while you were exchanging fire with those people?" Zhang Kaiwen asked Yang Yin, frowning.
"Yes, Chief. I was focused on those armed men in front and didn’t have the extra energy to pay attention to Lu Xiaoran. I didn’t see where he went at all," Yang Yin replied.
Zhang Kaiwen nodded thoughtfully before turning to Tang Mo and asking her, "Tang Mo, did you see how Lu Xiaoran disappeared?"
Tang Mo shook her head in confusion. "I didn't see either; by the time I noticed, he was already gone."
After a moment of contemplation, Zhang Kaiwen spoke with a serious expression to Yang Yin and Tang Mo, "Alright, you two go ahead. I need to think about tomorrow's plan. Come back here tonight so we can discuss it together."
Yang Yin and Tang Mo nodded and left his room together. Watching their departing figures, Zhang Kaiwen silently pondered.
There was something very off about Lu Xiaoran. If he continued to keep him in the shelter, both Yang Yin and Tang Mo would likely lose their lives as well. He needed to deal with Lu Xiaoran quickly.
Throughout the afternoon, Zhang Kaiwen remained in his room, contemplating the plan for the next day. He intended to arrange for Yang Yin, Tang Mo, and Lu Xiaoran to go out together on a mission. Of course, the mission was merely a pretext; the real goal was to lure Lu Xiaoran outside the shelter.
Then, he would have Yang Yin and Tang Mo use surprise tactics to eliminate him. Afterward, they would disguise it as an accident and bring Lu Xiaoran's body back to the shelter.
