There was no need to worry about what the others in the shelter might suspect anymore. Although he still hadn't figured out what abilities that kid possessed, it was too dangerous to keep him around any longer. Tomorrow, he would have Yang Yin and Tang Mo take care of that kid to prevent any future troubles.
As night fell, Zhang Kaiwen prepared to call Yang Yin and Tang Mo to discuss some details regarding their plan for the next day. However, after several attempts to reach Yang Yin, he found that the call wouldn't connect.
What could be going on with Yang? Why wasn't he answering his phone? Zhang Kaiwen stared at his phone in confusion. After a moment of thought, he searched for Tang Mo's number in his contacts and dialed him as well. Yet, just like with Yang Yin, there was no answer from Tang Mo either.
Could something have happened to them? A sense of unease crept into Zhang Kaiwen's mind as he sat at the table, deep in thought about the current situation. If it were just Yang Yin who was unreachable, it might have been a mere coincidence. But with Tang Mo also unavailable, it seemed too coincidental to ignore.
It was very likely that both of them were in trouble. Could it be that Lu Xiaoran had acted first? Zhang Kaiwen furrowed his brow. He had only needed to wait until tomorrow for Lu Xiaoran to be quietly eliminated under his plan. Yet now, unexpected complications had arisen.
I need to check on Lu Xiaoran right away. The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. He decided to grab his gun and personally head over to Lu Xiaoran's room to assess the situation.
Just as Zhang Kaiwen stood up from his chair, the door to the room suddenly burst open with tremendous force.
He focused his gaze on the entrance and saw a figure clad entirely in dark armor, obscuring their features. The person raised a handgun in their right hand and, without a word, aimed it directly at Zhang Kaiwen and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The bullet shot out of the gun's chamber, speeding straight toward Zhang Kaiwen's head. However, when it was about two meters away from him, the bullet suddenly seemed to be gripped by some unseen force, coming to a complete stop in mid-air.
Lu Xiaoran's face displayed a look of astonishment.
Previously, in the video for recruiting Ability users for Fog Mountain Sanctuary, Zhang Kaiwen had demonstrated his Ability. At that time, he had levitated a teacup on the table using his power.
Lu Xiaoran had vaguely guessed then that his Ability was Telekinesis. He didn't think much of this Ability and had dismissed Zhang Kaiwen as insignificant.
However, he never expected that this Telekinesis could actually halt a speeding bullet in its tracks.
