The man designated as the team leader sat there with a serious expression, holding a projection device in his hand. His name was Zhou Pengfei, and everyone else in the room had been summoned for this meeting at his request.
Zhou Pengfei reached out and pressed a few buttons on the projection device, which then cast an image onto the pristine white wall of the conference room. The attendees turned their gazes toward the wall, where a video was currently playing. This video had been captured earlier that morning by the cameras of the Yi Research Institute.
In the video, a young man could be seen moving down the corridor of the research institute, effortlessly cutting down fleeing researchers as if they were mere vegetables. After watching the video, the group was left in stunned silence.
This individual was an Ability user, and it was clear he was a high-level one. One person sitting next to Zhou Pengfei spoke up first, expressing his analysis after viewing the footage: "I saw him use at least three different Abilities just now. If we count his Flight Ability while escaping, could he be a fourth-tier Ability user?"
The person turned to Zhou Pengfei with a look of astonishment. However, Zhou Pengfei merely shook his head silently for a moment before finally speaking: "We classify someone with only one Ability as a first-tier Ability user, and those with two Abilities as second-tier Ability users. Currently, the most we have found are Ability users who possess up to four Abilities, which makes them fourth-tier Ability users.
But this individual in the video is unlike any other Ability user we’ve encountered. The footage I just showed does not capture the entire sequence of events. We have also reviewed videos from other cameras, and this young man possesses far more than four Abilities."
Upon hearing Zhou Pengfei's words, disbelief spread across the faces of the others in the room. One person spoke up first, directing a question at Zhou Pengfei: "Team Leader, if he has other Abilities, then what tier is he? Are we going to have to update our records on Ability levels?"
Zhou Pengfei shook his head and continued: "Let me finish my point. I believe this young man's Abilities cannot be classified using our previous tier system. Analyzing the footage from within the institute, I found that each of his Abilities is significantly stronger than those of other similar Ability users. For instance, if an ordinary person has enhanced physical strength by two times, this individual is at least twenty times stronger."
Zhou Pengfei's statement caused an uproar among everyone present. They had not anticipated that the Ability user attacking Yi Research Institute would possess such exaggerated powers—powers that could overturn their previously established understanding of Ability users.
"Team Leader, have we clarified this person's identity? What exactly is his background?" one person asked Zhou Pengfei with a puzzled expression.
We have currently identified his name, Lu Xiaoran, and the remaining details are still under investigation. We expect to have everything sorted out in a day or two.
Zhou Pengfei paused for a moment before continuing, "Regarding the issue with Lu Xiaoran, let's wait until we have thoroughly clarified his identity before we discuss it further."
The main reason I gathered all of you here today is to discuss the research on abilities. Since the Yi Research Institute we previously contacted has been compromised, we will need to find another research facility.
