Chen Li did not answer Shen Qingyue's question; instead, he raised his head to gaze at the increasingly dim palace in the distance, a playful smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
"Xiao Yue, aren't you curious about what’s inside that palace?" he asked, his tone laced with a hint of temptation.
Shen Qingyue rolled her eyes and replied irritably, "Brother, are you stupid? That’s the space of the Tai Xu Old Man! Even Chen Ming, who just agreed to the old man's terms, isn’t qualified to enter. Do you really think that old man would let us in so easily?"
"Not necessarily," Chen Li said with a mysterious smile. "Just tell me, do you want to go in or not?"
Looking at Chen Li's confident demeanor, Shen Qingyue felt her resolve wavering. To be honest, she was also filled with curiosity about that palace. After all, it was the realm created by Tai Xu Zhenzi!
What treasures could possibly exist in the domain of an ancient monster who had lived for over a thousand years? It was unimaginable! Even though she was still the Celestial Empress, she couldn’t help but be intrigued by a realm opened by such a powerful Cultivator. Moreover, she was currently just a small Cultivator in the Innate Realm. If she could really get a glimpse inside, even just for a moment, it would be worth it!
As she thought about this, Shen Qingyue's heart began to race. She bit her lip, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded. "Yes, I want to! But—"
"Want is enough!" Chen Li interrupted her before she could finish, grabbing her hand and heading toward the palace.
"Hey, wait for me!" Shen Qingyue exclaimed as she stumbled forward, caught off guard by Chen Li's sudden pull. She couldn't help but complain softly, "You haven't even told me how we're getting in! Why are you in such a hurry?"
"What are you dragging your feet for at a time like this?" Chen Li said without looking back. "If we wait any longer, that old man might just run away!"
The two of them ran toward the palace. As they got closer, Shen Qingyue's curiosity intensified. She felt as if Chen Li was hiding something from her. But what exactly it was, she couldn't pinpoint.
"Brother, tell me honestly," Shen Qingyue couldn't help but ask. "You’re not planning to force your way in, are you?"
"How could that be!" Chen Li stopped and turned to look at her with a smile. "Do I seem like that kind of reckless person?"
Shen Qingyue scrutinized him carefully and then nodded without hesitation. "Yes!"
Chen Li sighed helplessly and said, "You really take advantage and act innocent!"
After that, he fell silent and continued walking toward the palace.
Shen Qingyue, though still feeling a bit uneasy, had no choice but to follow him.
When they reached the entrance of the palace, a swirl of Spiritual Energy surrounded them, forming an invisible barrier.
Shen Qingyue recognized it as a Spatial Barrier; without being in the Saint's Realm, it was impossible to break through such a boundary.
Ignoring Shen Qingyue, Chen Li kept moving, tossing golden talismans onto the Spatial Barrier as if they were worthless.
As soon as these talismans touched the barrier, they seemed to adhere to it, emitting a faint glow.
"Tai Xu Old Man, come out! Don’t think you can hide from me! Hurry up and roll out here, or I’ll blow this place to bits!" Chen Li shouted, his voice echoing in the vast space, sounding particularly jarring.
Shen Qingyue stared at Chen Li's antics in shock, completely frozen.
She had expected him to have some clever method—perhaps a secret incantation or some ancient divine technique—but this? Just a screen full of Explosive Talismans?
She even began to doubt whether her cheap brother had lost his mind, thinking he could open Tai Xu Zhenzi's space with such a crude approach.
Shen Qingyue twitched her mouth and couldn't help but retort, "Brother, are you done messing around? This is Tai Xu Old Man's space; do you think it's made of paper that you can just blow it open with Explosive Talismans?"
Chen Li ignored Shen Qingyue's mockery and continued sticking his Explosive Talismans on the barrier while muttering to himself, "Old man, don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking! Don’t provoke me; otherwise, I’ll destroy your space right now and you won’t get another chance!"
His voice grew increasingly excited as if these words could genuinely threaten someone into appearing.
Shen Qingyue couldn't help but roll her eyes, too lazy to listen to his boasting anymore.
With such a foolish threat, if it could really summon someone out, then those who had just left wouldn’t have needed to sign any Divine Soul contracts at all!
Chen Li paid no mind to Shen Qingyue's complaints; he snorted coldly and detonated two Explosive Talismans.
Boom!
Two loud explosions erupted in the space, deafeningly loud.
Shen Qingyue was startled and instinctively covered her ears.
However, contrary to her expectations of the space collapsing, nothing of the sort occurred; after the two Explosive Talismans exploded, aside from producing a tremendous noise, they caused no substantial damage to the Spatial Barrier at all.
Shen Qingyue couldn't help but roll her eyes, saying irritably, "I told you it wouldn't work, didn't I? You just wouldn't listen!"
Chen Li ignored Shen Qingyue's mockery. He took a deep breath, lowered his voice, and spoke in an extremely eerie tone, "Tai Xu Old Man, I'll give you one more chance. If you keep playing tricks, I won't hold back anymore!"
As he finished speaking, Chen Li pretended to crush the Explosive Talisman again. At that moment, the previously vanished illusion of Tai Xu Zhenzi reappeared before them.
The once imposing Tai Xu Zhenzi now looked flustered and called out, "Ancestor, please show mercy!"
Chen Li paused his movements and turned to look at Tai Xu Zhenzi, a smug smile appearing on his face. "Oh, isn't this Tai Xu Old Man? What’s the matter? You finally decided to show yourself?"
Tai Xu Zhenzi forced an awkward smile and said, "Ancestor, you're joking. Old Madam is right here, isn't she? I just had some matters to attend to earlier."
"Enough with the nonsense!" Chen Li impatiently interrupted him. "Just tell us why you brought us here. What do you want?"
Tai Xu Zhenzi's smile froze on his face as he cleared his throat twice. "Ancestor, what are you saying? Old Madam was just trying to have a little fun with you! Why don't you put away that Talisman first?"
He chuckled nervously at Chen Li, his tone becoming submissive and flattering.
"Fun?" Chen Li sneered. "Are you sure our relationship is one where we can joke around?"
Tai Xu Zhenzi was left speechless by Chen Li's retort, his old face turning bright red.
Shen Qingyue watched from the side, secretly amused. This was the first time she had seen someone dare to speak to Tai Xu Zhenzi like that.
It was important to note that although Tai Xu Zhenzi was a Divine Soul with a formidable reputation, even the leaders of major sects would likely treat him with utmost respect for fear of offending him.
Yet here was Chen Li, showing no sign of reverence whatsoever and acting as if he could do whatever he pleased. It was truly outrageous!
