I am right in front of you, Baiwu said earnestly. I am a friend of Master Wulian and have even visited him secretly; I have seen you too. These Bamboo Demons are the spirits residing in Big Willow Tree Village. They have lured some lonely souls to form families, but apart from that, they haven't done anything else wrong.
The Thunder Bamboo Demon, Chunlei, produces Midnight. It is the most demonic among them, having lost its sanity. When someone approaches, it becomes overly defensive. Therefore, every time it produces Midnight, it asks me to help isolate mortals.
You should hurry and stop Master’s disciple. With his level of skill, facing the furious Thunder Bamboo Demon is dangerous for him. As a demon myself, I can't intervene effectively; trying to pull him away won't stop that reckless child.
Misha followed Baiwu at a brisk pace, growing increasingly anxious as he listened to its ramblings.
When Baiwu pushed through the thicket, it exclaimed, "Junior Brother! Xuan Yin!"
Baiwu sighed inwardly; this was bad! The Bamboo Demon was protecting its young and had completely transformed into a monstrous state in response to the Demon Catcher's provocation. The bamboo flew wildly, matching the clash of blades. When Misha arrived, he witnessed the moment a bamboo sword pierced through Xuan Yin's body.
In shock and disbelief, he rushed over. With Baiwu's help, he dragged Xuan Yin out of the bamboo forest.
Xuan Yin was covered in wounds; aside from the fatal stab through his chest, his limbs bore penetrating injuries and numerous cuts of varying depths. The wound through his chest was the most lethal; Misha could visibly see Xuan Yin's life force dissipating.
Blood from Xuan Yin stained Misha's clothes red. Fear and helplessness gripped him as he thought of his master, but his master was not here. He forced himself to stay calm but then recalled his pouch, rumored to have the power to bring someone back from the brink of death—perhaps...
Misha looked down at Xuan Yin, who was coughing up blood and whose pupils were losing focus. Panic filled his heart, leaving no room for further thought as he took out the pouch, hoping desperately that the rumors were true.
To his surprise, the pouch contained a Lotus Seed. The green shell shimmered with a pearlescent glow; it felt heavy and solid in his hand. As soon as he fed it into Xuan Yin's mouth, the Lotus Seed transformed into a fragrant liquid that flowed into Xuan Yin's body with his unconscious swallowing.
Oh no! This can't be happening! How could you do this to your master? That is the Pure Heart Lotus from Buddhism—a rare treasure! Wasn't there only one? Isn't it kept in the Treasure Pavilion? There are High Monks guarding it outside; how did you get it?
You should have hidden it well after stealing it! You're just a junior disciple from the Demon Subduing Institute; your life isn't worth more than the Pure Heart Lotus! If this last Pure Heart Lotus is lost, Master will surely be implicated and stripped of his title as Abbot—that would be an understatement!
Baiwu's anxious chatter halted when it noticed Misha's change in demeanor. It turned pale almost instantly.
Master Wulian’s beloved disciple is actually a Half-Demon!
The Pure Heart Lotus is said to bring people back to life; while this has never been verified, its ability to suppress demonic nature is well-known. Given Master Wulian's compassionate character towards all beings, it's highly likely that he gave this Pure Heart Lotus to Misha.
If that's true, Master Wulian's situation is even worse!
Misha was losing control, his demonic nature taking over. His crimson eyes fixed on Baiwu's Entity as he murmured, "Why hasn't my junior brother awakened yet?"
Baiwu stepped back in fear, wondering if perhaps the time had not yet come.
"Not yet?" Misha replied, his voice low and menacing. "But I can't wait any longer. Whoever harms my junior brother will die."
Taking advantage of Misha's distraction, Baiwu quickly turned and ran towards Puzhao Temple.
