Before the four of them could sit down and chat for a while, Sang Qingxiao came over with the dishes. 0

So fast? 0

Sang Qingxiao explained that these were the daily meals prepared by the Small Tavern, which had been ready for a while and kept warm. 0

Qiu Zizai sighed, "Misha eats so well every day, I envy her!" 0

"Can't let our own people go hungry," Sang Qingxiao replied. "You all start eating; I'll go get more." 0

Yong Huai quickly stopped her, "This is enough!" 0

"How can it be enough? I still don’t know the Demon Catcher’s appetite," she retorted. 0

Qiu Zizai laughed heartily, "Miss Sang, then I’ll really dig in!" 0

"Eat as much as you want! There’s plenty," Sang Qingxiao said as she placed several pots on the table, each still bubbling with heat. 0

One pot contained beef brisket stew with potatoes. The brisket was a marvelous cut—tender meat, chewy tendons, and rich fat combined to create a delightful texture. The tendons were fun to chew, the meat was juicy and not tough, and the fat was bursting with beefy flavor. The potatoes soaked up the thick broth, becoming soft and savory; some even preferred the potatoes over the brisket in this dish. 0

Another pot held green beans stewed with pork ribs. After long hours of simmering, the ribs had become tender and fell off the bone. The green beans absorbed all the grease from the dish, becoming soft and flavorful. Like potatoes, they were perfect for stewing with meat and often stole the spotlight. 0

The last pot featured a whole goose stew. The entire bird weighed a hefty eight pounds after being cleaned and was cooked in a large pot with flavors similar to Black Duck but toned down in spice so that everyone could enjoy it. 0

The pots were so large that they couldn’t fit on one table, prompting Yong Huai and the others to bring in another table. 0

After setting up the tables, they noticed Misha was almost done selling her goods and hadn’t eaten yet. She felt guilty about not helping out and started tidying up. Yong Huai pulled Misha to join them for dinner while Sang Qingxiao went to call Li Cu from the backyard. 0

The little ones were not allowed to come out; they reserved some dishes just for them. 0

When Sang Qingxiao returned from the kitchen again, she brought four individual soup bowls while Li Cu carried two jars of wine. 0

"One or two gold pieces worth of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall; you all drink soup first," Sang Qingxiao invited. 0

"Really? Just four bowls? What about you guys?" Qiu Zizai asked, surprised. 0

"We’ve had enough." 0

After tasting each dish and sharing their thoughts on them, everyone began chatting about various topics. 0

Yong Huai shared his experiences from the journey. "After leaving Pujisi, I intended to rush back to the capital quickly but ended up taking a detour to deal with a monster. On my way back to town, I encountered heavy rain." 0

Sighing, he continued, "It rained all along the way without stopping. In my decades of life, I've never seen such heavy rainfall. This year's flooding disaster seems unavoidable; the people in the south are suffering." 0

Qiu Zizai said, "More than ten days ago, I watched helplessly as a village disappeared before my eyes due to a landslide. I wanted to save them, but I didn't even know how. I only managed to rescue a few families on the outskirts." 0

Yong Huai chimed in, "Even if we saved them, what good would it do? Their homes are gone, their years of savings are lost, and their crops are destroyed. They've lost everything. They might even start thinking that living is worse than dying." 0

The floodwaters were not safe to drink, but when people are thirsty, who cares? After the floods, there might even be a plague. How many people will die this time in the Great Jing Dynasty? 0

Was the situation with the floods really that severe? 0

After sending Yong Huai and the others away, Sang Qingxiao called for Old Vine to inquire further. 0

"Are the southern floods really that serious?" 0

I heard what those Demon Catchers said earlier. My perspective is different from theirs; I'm within the city walls. With so many people, there are countless stories. I truly don't know about the situation in those remote villages. 0

However, outside the southern cities, refugees have already begun to gather. Moreover, I observed celestial phenomena at night, and it seems that this rain might reach Jingjing City as well. 0
