Zhao Qing's unique way of kneeling gradually attracted a number of onlookers. Chi Chen'an felt embarrassed for him, but as Zhao Qing continued to kneel more and more, the spectators were moved by his devotion. Although they did not understand why he was behaving this way, their mockery turned into silent support. 0

Zhao Qing was getting closer to his sincere goal, and Chi Chen'an's speculation about his identity as a descendant of the divine became clearer. The fact that he had been in contact with local officials for decades, possibly even higher-ranking officials, to collectively seal off Shanxia Village indicated that he must hold a certain status in the Court. 0

Considering the Zhao surname, Zhao Qing's direction, and the family that had entered the court over a decade ago, Chi Chen'an could only conclude it was one particular family. However, this family had a reputation for being exceptionally honest and upright, quite unlike the supernatural figures Zhao Qing had described. 0

Yet, Zhao Qing ultimately stopped in front of that family's residence: the Jinxiu Street Zhao Family. Chi Chen'an had heard many stories about the Court's structure from his relatives during this time, and he had a deep impression of the Jinxiu Street Zhao Family. This household may not have held a high official position—at most a fourth rank—but it was unique in the Court as a family of censors. 0

The first Censor of the Court from the Zhao Family, Zhao Tuo, was renowned as one of the most famous censors of the Great Jing Dynasty. He served loyally for his country, possessed extraordinary talent, and was unafraid of death, often speaking truth to power. The emperor at that time both loved and hated him but could not do without him. He once considered promoting him to Prime Minister but was firmly rejected; until his death, he remained merely a fourth-rank censor. 0

His descendants inherited his legacy, serving as censors and inspectors through generations, maintaining a style of conduct similar to his own. Even women who married out of the family, like Right Minister Mingze, came from a background of censors. 0

However, Chi Chen'an's evaluation of the Zhao Family was that they were needed for counsel; simply put, whatever the emperor required advice on, the Zhao Family would provide it. It seemed they could read the emperor's mind perfectly, their counsel always aligning with his hidden intentions. When the Zhao Family spoke up, other ministers would fall silent; without the emperor's secret protection, they would have been torn apart by their peers long ago. 0

Chi Chen'an found his relative's words reasonable; it appeared that when the Sang Family encountered trouble, the Zhao Family had also gauged the emperor's thoughts and contributed significantly. 0

"Xiaoxiao! I'm back!" Li Cu rushed over. Sang Qingxiao quickly caught her but accidentally flicked ink across a piece of paper with her brush. Crumpling up the ruined paper, Sang Qingxiao started anew. 0

"Xiaoxiao! My son and Chi Chen'an ran into a strange man today—an old man nearly fifty years old—dressed in bright red and green, shouting about wanting to see a descendant of the gods. He knelt every few steps and worshipped for quite some time." 0

"Oh," Sang Qingxiao said calmly. "So someone from Shanxia Village finally made it into town." 0

"Yes! That man came from Shanxia Village!" Li Cu nodded before quickly realizing something. "Xiaoxiao! How did you know he was from Shanxia Village? Did you go out today? Did you see him?" 0

"Did you go out?" Li Cu asked. "What was Zhao Qing's reaction when he came to the door? The Zhao family from Jinxiu Street, I mean." 0

"How do you even know that person's name is Zhao Qing?" Li Cu mumbled, then continued with more detail. "When I first heard Zhao Qing mention gods, I thought he must be out of his mind. 0

In our land, there are demons and spirits, ghosts and monsters, and even humans, but I've never heard of any gods. If gods really existed, why would the different species still be fighting? With just a wave of their sleeve, they could wipe us all out. 0

After hearing about his past experiences, I became convinced that this person must have been completely fooled. Gods? They definitely don't exist. Xiaoxiao, do you think it's possible that some demon is secretly causing trouble?" 0
