This time, the Imperial Academy had invited quite a few officials for the brawl. Shi Yun was among the first to arrive. Seeing the injuries on Great-Grandson's face, which looked terrifyingly grim, he couldn't help but smile at the boy's carefree demeanor. That malicious glint in his eyes made Shi Yun realize what mischief Great-Grandson was up to, leaving him both amused and exasperated. 0

He took a seat next to Wen Jijiang, giving face to the Imperial Academy and intimidating those who arrived later. On Wen Jijiang's table sat a Black Cat, its head buried in a washbasin the size of a palm, drinking. Shi Yun caught a whiff of it and thought, good tea! It must be quite valuable; even Wen the Old Man was willing to splurge. 0

Noticing Shi Yun's gaze, Li Cu raised a paw after finishing its drink and waved at him. "Black General is involved in the brawl too?" Shi Yun asked. 0

"Me? I didn't fight; I'm just maintaining order," Li Cu replied. 0

Wen Jijiang retorted with annoyance, "Those students are covered in paw prints; the evidence is undeniable!" 0

"They broke the rules themselves. They fought hard when they were winning, but when they lost, they ran away and played tricks. Hmph! I couldn't let them escape," Li Cu defended. 0

"But with your interference, both sides ended up injured much more than necessary. Your master doesn't care about you at all; how can you act so recklessly?" Wen Jijiang countered. 0

Xiaoxiao was the most sensible one present. "That group deserved a beating!" 0

Wen Jijiang looked around and asked, "Where's Sang Qingxiao? Didn't I say for everyone involved in the fight to come here?" 0

Xiaoxiao replied, "I didn't hit anyone. Besides, you can't invite her family over for something so trivial. I can represent her just fine." 0

As they spoke, a Matriarch entered from outside. 0

Wen Jijiang jumped in surprise; it was Liao Family Matriarch. Though she was over seventy, she appeared spirited, yet her age was unmistakable. He hadn't expected to see her here. 0

Everyone stood to greet her. The Matriarch wore a friendly expression and after exchanging pleasantries with Wen Jijiang and others, they engaged in lively conversation, during which they learned why the fight had occurred. 0

"Well done!" the Matriarch said without hesitation. 0

That group immediately began making excuses, and with some mothers backing them up, the discussion turned into a chaotic market scene filled with chatter and noise. 0

They had the courage to act but not to admit their mistakes; if they did wrong, they should correct it instead of trying to argue their way out of it. "Wen Jijiang," she continued, "the character of these recent students has indeed declined; it's not even worth mentioning their prospects as officials. Just standing in Court would disgrace the imperial face." 0

The Matriarch's words rang true. Shi Yun chimed in as well, "Regarding previous cases that Court has ruled on just over ten days ago, how dare they bring them up for discussion again? Their actions and words stem from selfish desires that question Court's judgment as erroneous. They don't know if it's due to their own lack of learning or influence from their elders." 0

"If they're dissatisfied with Court's ruling, they should voice their objections right there; His Majesty isn't an autocrat who silences everyone." 0

Yet now they allowed younger members of their families to spout nonsense within the academy; if this spread to the streets, were they trying to incite public resentment? 0

Shi Yun and Lady Lian worked together, their official positions and authority pressing down on the opposition. Without Wen Jijiang needing to say a word, the voices of resistance from the other side grew quieter. 0

Wang Kuan, seeing that the other side was gradually losing steam, became displeased. He held his swollen right cheek and pitifully tugged at Shi Yun's sleeve, "It hurts." 0

This was the first time Wang Kuan had called him "Sir." Shi Yun was taken aback, turning to look at Wang Kuan, unable to regain his composure for a long while. 0

Noticing something off in Shi Yun's gaze, Wang Kuan audaciously pinched him, "I've been beaten up like this, and you won't even avenge me!" 0
