On the way to the court, Shi Yun caught sight of Qi Xiaomian, who was yawning. Mingze kept a close watch on their interaction and soon found himself confronted by an angry Shi Yun and a perpetually yawning Qi Xiaomian.
"Did you do what happened last night?" Shi Yun questioned Qi Xiaomian.
"What?!" Mingze's eyes lit up. "You did it? Really?"
Shi Yun shot him a glare, causing Mingze to immediately wipe the grin off his face and meekly scold, "How brazen of you!"
Qi Xiaomian raised a hand to wipe away the tears from his yawn. "What are you two Masters Xiang talking about? I don't understand."
Shi Yun snorted. "I could smell the blood on you from far away."
Qi Xiaomian sniffed himself. "Really? Shi Xiang, are you sure you're not just tired from working too hard? Even if there is, it's normal. In the Office of Censors, when is there not a smell of blood?"
The day was particularly hot, with an added stench of foreign sweat.
Ignoring his denial, Shi Yun was convinced it was him. In the entire Court of Civil and Military Officials, who else would be so bold? "Qi Xiaomian, you'd better not make me clean up after you."
"If it weren't for the news I received, trying to rally more officials to block things outside the palace, His Majesty would definitely hold you accountable."
"Don't think just because the Office of Censors is in your hands and that the Ministry of Justice and Minister of Justice are weaker than you, with Cai Zhuo occasionally covering for you, that you can act without fear."

"Yongxin Marquis, you're not a child anymore. Old Man understands your character; even if he wants to protect you, there will be times he can't."
"Just calm down a bit."
After hearing Shi Yun's earnest advice, Qi Xiaomian felt moved. "I can't calm down! After seeing those pieces of evidence, how can you not be angry?"
"I am angry!" Mingze gritted his teeth in response before taking on a more conciliatory tone. "Shi Yun, I think Yongxin Marquis's actions are truly deserving of punishment. Many people are scared into staying indoors; at least the city has calmed down."
"Do you think I wouldn't know what you're saying? Old Man just doesn't want this kid to go too far."
"Before doing something reckless like this, consult us old folks first! Some matters are too extreme; if you could ease up a bit, it wouldn't lessen the effect. In fact, it might help avoid future troubles."
"Old Man, you're teaching him!"
Qi Xiaomian naturally agreed with him and repeatedly thanked them while assuring he wouldn't cause any more trouble. Only then did Shi Yun let him go. Fearing further lectures from this old man, Qi Xiaomian quickly found an excuse and slipped away.
Mingze watched his retreating figure and chuckled softly before turning to Shi Yun. "You've been paying more attention to him lately. Weren't you furious when he entered the Office of Censors without putting in any effort? You even made him wear some uncomfortable shoes for a while."
Shi Yun wasn't angry. "Isn't it all because of that list you provided?"
"Name, list? Oh, you are moved by what I said.
Take another look; the Old Man just wants to clarify that I am the Chancellor of the Great Jing Dynasty, not a member of his royal family, and certainly not the Chancellor of Xuande Emperor.
Mingze smiled and gave him a bow, as I shared the same thought with the Chancellor."
