Liu Xifang, Liu Pingping, and Yang Er were completely stunned into silence. No one expected that the Clan Leader of the Corpse Refining Clan would show no temper in front of Jiang Chen.
"Mr. Jiang, let me treat you to lunch," Liu Xifang quickly stepped forward, clearly a bit intimidated, and said cautiously.
"That sounds good," Jiang Chen nodded, glancing at Hu Sanxiong and Xiao Junyong. "How about you two join us for lunch?"
"Uh, Mr. Jiang, we’ll pass. I have some matters to attend to later, so I won't disturb your meal," Hu Sanxiong and Xiao Junyong quickly replied.
Jiang Chen didn’t press the issue and left with the Liu Family.
Once Jiang Chen was gone, Hu Sanxiong and Xiao Junyong let out a long sigh of relief. The pressure was immense while Jiang Chen was there; they feared that any misstep could lead to their demise at his hands.
"Hu Lao, what should we do? Should we head back?" Xiao Junyong asked.
"Let’s wait a bit. We can see how things go tomorrow before deciding to return," Hu Sanxiong said reluctantly. He wanted to observe how things would unfold between Jiang Chen and Li Hai Feng the next day.
"Alright then, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. Hu Lao, do you think the Corpse Refining Clan could be a match for Mr. Jiang?" Xiao Junyong inquired. Initially, he had some confidence in the Corpse Refining Clan, but Li Hai Feng's attitude towards Jiang Chen had completely shattered that confidence. Feng Laowu had boasted about how powerful the Corpse Refining Clan was and their aspirations to become Martial Arts Supreme, yet their Clan Leader acted like a coward in front of Jiang Chen, completely suppressed by him. It seemed ridiculous that such a person could aspire to greatness.
"It’s hard to say; Clan Leader Li seems to have some hidden cards up his sleeve. Let’s wait until tomorrow to find out," Hu Sanxiong replied.
In a private room of a high-end restaurant in Ningcheng, Liu Xifang and the others had finally calmed down from their earlier shock.
The atmosphere in the room was quiet, with only the sounds of eating breaking the silence; however, the Liu Family had lost their appetite.
Eventually, Liu Xifang couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke up, "Mr. Jiang, it seemed like the Clan Leader of the Corpse Refining Clan was a bit afraid of you. What’s going on?"
"It’s nothing much; after all, he’s not an ordinary person and can sense my spiritual awareness," Jiang Chen casually replied.
"Then what was that 'Body of the General' you mentioned earlier?" Liu Xifang asked curiously.
"Have you heard of the four ancient zombies?" Jiang Chen inquired.
"Uh, not really," Liu Xifang said, puzzled.
"I know one: Han Zhu," Liu Pingping chimed in.
"Han Zhu is one; the other three are Ying Gou, Hou Qing, and Jiang Zhan. Jiang Zhan is considered the ancestor of blood-sucking zombies," Jiang Chen explained. During this time, he had indeed brushed up on many ancient texts about Huaxia mythology and gained considerable knowledge about its legendary ancient era.
"Mr. Jiang, that can't be true! These are all myths; how could they possibly be real?" Liu Xifang looked skeptical. In modern society, who still believes in such myths?
"It might be true or not; we'll find out when we see Jiang Zhan tomorrow," Jiang Chen smiled, not entirely certain himself. It would be best if it truly were the Body of the General.
"Mr. Jiang, if it really is Jiang Zhan, it might be quite difficult to deal with," Liu Xifang expressed increasing concern.
"If it weren't for Jiang Zhan, I wouldn't be so disappointed," Jiang Chen said with a smile.
Seeing Jiang Chen's confidence, Liu Xifang was even more astonished. If Jiang Zhan were just an ordinary person, it would be one thing, but he was a zombie—specifically, the progenitor of ancient zombies. That title was terrifying. In ancient times, that was at least ten thousand years ago. A zombie from ten thousand years ago? It was unimaginable how terrifying its power would be; it was simply beyond what any human could contend with.
