As Yu Miaoyin noticed Qi Xiao's expression slightly change, she placed her hands on her hips, feeling quite pleased with herself.
"Hmph, this Qi Xiaoliu is just too unruly. If he doesn't take the time to discipline himself with Brother Ye, he’ll be completely out of control. Brother Qi, it’s already a done deal that Brother Ye has joined us. What’s the point of you trying to obstruct this? How about this: if you leave quietly now, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear anything. What do you say?"
"Senior Sister, what does this have to do with Ye Xiuyuan? Just because you’re using his name doesn’t mean you can avoid paying the spirit stones."
"You are my senior sister; I can’t do anything about that. But you’re in the Linglang Pavilion now, and you wouldn’t want others to know that this so-called esteemed guest is trying to rob her own junior brother of his spirit stones, would you?"
"If you don’t care about your reputation, then so be it."
Yu Miaoyin's cheeks flushed with anger. She could shamelessly ask her junior brother for spirit stones, but that didn’t mean she wanted others to find out. After all, she was a princess of a nation, the third disciple of Master Hanying, and a valued guest at Linglang Pavilion. If outsiders learned of this, it would be utterly disgraceful.
Qi Xiao's gaze remained calm. "Senior Sister, have you thought this through?"
Yu Miaoyin could tell that Qi Xiao was determined today and wouldn’t back down without a resolution. She cursed him silently a thousand times in her heart, stamped her foot in frustration, and said pitifully, "I really don’t have any money. You can take the spirit stones from my account if you want them, but those refining materials are off-limits; they’re for my junior brother’s initiation gift."
Her voice grew softer as she continued, "If you want the spirit stones, I’ll return them to you. But could you give me some time to make arrangements?"
Qi Xiao looked at her steadily. With no solid proof, he couldn’t guarantee that Senior Sister wouldn’t turn hostile once she left this room. "How about this: I’ve heard that Senior Sister has a bag of holding. Why not use that as collateral?"
Yu Miaoyin loved collecting things and had stuffed all sorts of items into her bag of holding—things she cherished, things she didn’t recognize, and even worthless trinkets. The contents had accumulated over time and could be considered her fortune.
Unable to hold back any longer, Yu Miaoyin exploded in anger. "Oh really? So that’s your plan! Let me tell you—it’s absolutely impossible!"
Qi Xiao raised an eyebrow. "If Senior Sister is unwilling, then I’ll have no choice but to take those refining materials instead."
Yu Miaoyin glared at him, her almond-shaped eyes nearly shooting flames. "Qi Xiao, don’t push your luck!"
She gritted her teeth as if making a firm decision and pulled off the bag of holding before thrusting it towards Qi Xiao in defeat. "Hmph! Just take it quickly and stop flaunting it in front of me."
Qi Xiao felt a surge of joy as he accepted the bag and stepped outside to settle the account with Supervisor Yu for fifty mid-grade spirit stones.
Unable to contain herself any longer, Yu Miaoyin rushed out after him. "Aren't you just supposed to take the bag? Why are you still taking my spirit stones?"
"I only agreed to let you use the bag for the materials, but I never said it included these fifty mid-grade spirit stones," Qi Xiao said, shaking the bag with a hint of sarcasm. "Do you really think this bag is worth six or seven hundred spirit stones, Senior Sister?"
Yu Miaoyin was momentarily speechless, her frustration bubbling to the surface. The bag had once held some rare items, but those had long been used for her crafting. Now, it contained nothing but worthless trinkets. Yet, for some reason, she felt an inexplicable pang of regret, as if she had missed out on some opportunity.
She couldn't help but blame Qi Xiao for her feelings. "Hmph! It's all that damned Xiao Liu's fault. Just wait; I will definitely tell the Master Sister about this and see how he handles it."
Meanwhile, Qi Xiao left the Linglong Pavilion, feeling a sense of relief as he touched the bag at his side. It wasn't a lie that Yu Miaoyin was a genius in crafting. A genius is someone who possesses outstanding talent in a particular area and often enjoys the favor of fortune—just like Yu Miaoyin.
As a craftsman, she always seemed to have inexplicable good luck, stumbling upon or acquiring rare items at low prices. While she might not recognize their value at the moment, one day these items would shine brightly and provide her with significant support.
Qi Xiao knew he was outnumbered and weak; if he wanted to take revenge and change his fate, he could only make use of every resource available around him.
Yu Miaoyin stormed up to Qingjing Peak. Song Xiaoling looked up in surprise. "What happened? Who provoked you?"
"It's that Qi Xiao," Yu Miaoyin said as she approached Song Xiaoling, looking pitiful. "Second Sister, you have no idea how unreasonable Qi Xiao is!"
"I just wanted to borrow some spirit stones from the Goodwill Hall to craft a gift for Junior Brother Ye. But he chased me all the way to Linglong Pavilion, demanding I return the spirit stones. If I didn’t pay him back, he threatened to take the materials I prepared for Junior Brother Ye."
"Second Sister, don’t you think that's excessive?"
Song Xiaoling frowned in hesitation. "You borrowed spirit stones from Qi Xiao at the Goodwill Hall? Are you sure you didn’t overstep your bounds?"
Yu Miaoyin's confidence wavered as she avoided Song Xiaoling's gaze. "I just wanted to craft something for Junior Brother Ye! As a senior brother, shouldn’t he set an example? Why be so stingy?"
I told him this was for Junior Brother Ye's weapon forging, but he wouldn't listen. He even said it had nothing to do with him. Second Senior Sister, Qi Xiao is clearly jealous of Junior Brother Ye and is deliberately trying to sabotage my efforts.
Song Xiaoling felt a surge of anger rising within her. Even if Third Junior Sister had indeed taken his monthly allowance, it was only ten medium-grade spirit stones. How much could that possibly be? Qi Xiao was truly despicable; he had hurt Junior Brother Ye so badly and still couldn't part with even ten medium-grade spirit stones. Hmph, selfish and narrow-minded.
Without hesitation, Song Xiaoling stood up, determined to teach Qi Xiao a lesson along with Yu Miaoyin. As they stepped out of the small courtyard, they ran into Su Lingyue, whose face was filled with displeasure.
Su Lingyue jumped down from her flying tool, her delicate face frosted over with coldness. "Third Junior Sister, what do you want?"
Yu Miaoyin couldn't help but shiver, looking pitiful. "Senior Sister, you're scaring me."
Su Lingyue snorted coldly. "This is what happens when you do good deeds; Manager Wang has reported this matter here."
Yu Miaoyin's expression changed instantly as she stammered, "Senior Sister, please let me explain."
It turned out that after Qi Xiao left, Manager Wang had been deep in thought and felt uneasy. He saw Qi Xiao leave in a hurry and was worried that the two might have some conflict that would ultimately involve him. To be safe, Manager Wang gritted his teeth and sought out Su Lingyue.
That was how Su Lingyue learned that Yu Miaoyin had been taking the monthly allowance without permission and that she had already taken quite a bit.
Su Lingyue glared at her coldly. "Tell me, how many spirit stones did you take from Xiao Liu?"
The woman's voice was icy and more authoritative than before, frightening Yu Miaoyin so much that her legs nearly gave way beneath her. She lowered her head, stammering, "Not much... it’s all because Xiao Liu agreed..."
