Investigations revealed that most residents relied on their families for support when they first started working. However, Li Fengping did not want to burden her elderly father and aimed to resolve her difficulties during the Residency Training phase on her own. This led to an intense desire to escape poverty and a strong craving for money.
One day in 2018, Li Fengping inadvertently saw a colleague playing an Online Lottery Game and winning hundreds of yuan in just a few minutes. Excited by this, she asked her colleague to teach her how to play, and soon after, she won several dozen yuan. Thrilled, she became addicted to the game.
Initially, she only wagered ten or twenty yuan at a time and managed to earn several hundred yuan daily. However, as she continued winning, her strong desire for money grew, and she began betting hundreds or even thousands of yuan while seeking loans from others under the pretext of needing money for her mother's urgent surgery.
To secure funds, she convinced two sympathetic female nurses to take out loans totaling 600,000 yuan from the bank, promising them that she would repay them in full with interest. Naively, Li Fengping believed she had found a path to wealth; this amount seemed trivial as she thought she could recoup it within minutes. Little did she know that this was not an Online Lottery but rather an Online Gambling Scam designed to ensnare people like her.
In reality, this scam was tailored for individuals like Li Fengping; wins and losses were entirely at the discretion of the house. They would allow small wins initially, but once players increased their bets, they would quickly lose all their money.
Those trapped in such scams often find it impossible to extricate themselves; instead of cutting their losses, they cling to the hope of winning it back in one go. Within just a few months, Li Fengping lost all the borrowed money and accumulated over a million yuan in debt, with no one willing to lend her more.
Regrettably, even at this point, Li Fengping refused to turn back. With no one left to borrow from, she turned to online platforms and managed to acquire hundreds of thousands more. Yet faced with the bottomless pit of Online Gambling Scams, that money vanished in an instant as well.
In August 2019, seeking to recover her losses, Li Fengping approached the 51-year-old surgeon Luo Yuanjian, boldly asking to borrow 50,000 yuan for urgent use. To her surprise, Luo not only agreed readily but also stated that he would not charge any interest. However, he insisted on discussing the details in a hotel room after work.
At this point, Li Fengping was no longer an inexperienced young girl; she understood what going to a hotel room implied. Yet, unable to resist the lure of money, she acquiesced to Luo's request. Afterward, she received the full amount of 50,000 yuan but soon realized she had jumped into another fire pit.
Luo Yuanjian appeared to be a respectable gentleman on the outside, but in reality, he was a lecherous man. He had long been aware of Li Fengping's financial troubles and was willing to lend her money solely to gain access to her young and beautiful body. Before long, he began demanding repayment.
Having lost everything again, Li Fengping could not come up with the 50,000 yuan. In desperation, she wrote an IOU. However, the previously professed interest-free loan turned into a demand for her to visit him at a hotel three times a week as payment.
Despite her extreme reluctance each time, Luo had already figured out Li Fengping's psychology. He lent her another 200,000 yuan under new terms: she would owe him 300,000 yuan in total and must be available whenever he called.
Thus, Li Fengping became completely trapped as Luo Yuanjian's outlet for his desires. She moved into a rental apartment arranged by him and began a hellish existence.

On March 20, 2020—the day of the incident—Luo Yuanjian arrived at the rental apartment drunk and once again assaulted Li Fengping. Reflecting on the months of despair and being toyed with by an older man without any hope of recovering her losses, she could no longer endure it.
At around 1 AM on March 21, while Luo lay asleep in bed, Li Fengping took out her phone and searched for one question: What should you do if you hate someone deeply? Among the many answers, four words stood out: Make him disappear.
With determination, Li Fengping grabbed a power cord and wrapped it around Luo Yuanjian's neck. Gritting her teeth, she exerted all her strength to strangle him. Minutes later, he lay still.
At that moment, instead of feeling fear over having killed someone, Li Fengping calmly used Luo's fingerprint to unlock his phone and transferred approximately 100,000 yuan from his account to hers. Ironically, this money was originally intended for her recovery efforts; however, just as it landed in her account, it was seized by various online platforms.
By 8 AM, after spending the night with the corpse, Li Fengping pretended everything was normal as she went to work. It wasn't until she returned home at 7 PM that she discovered Luo Yuanjian's body had begun to emit a foul odor. With surveillance cameras everywhere along the way, it was impossible for her to quietly dispose of the body.
In desperation, she opened her phone to search for methods of disposing of a body, ultimately deciding on dismemberment. Having observed the process of dissection during her university days and being a nurse, she viewed a human corpse as no different from pork.
Thus, Li Fengping picked up a kitchen knife and began the gruesome task of bleeding out and dismembering the body, slicing meat and removing bones. Next, she used a pressure cooker to cook the meat chunks, then blended them into a pulp before flushing everything down the drain.
The entire process lasted from 8 PM on the 21st until 5 PM on the 22nd. This meant that while downstairs Old Wang was waiting for a plumber to clear the drain, Li Fengping was busy dealing with the body.
On October 30, 2020, the Guangxi Yulin Intermediate People's Court sentenced Li Fengping to death. Although her defense attorney argued that she had committed the crime of passion under coercion from Luo Yuanjian and should receive a lighter sentence, perhaps a suspended death sentence, the police maintained that all evidence relied solely on Li Fengping's testimony without any concrete proof. Moreover, their relationship was too secretive for anyone to substantiate her claims of coercion; even electronic evidence like chat records were nonexistent.
Li Fengping's statements and transfer records alone could not confirm that her illicit relationship with Luo Yuanjian was not consensual but rather coerced.
It is important to note that the law emphasizes evidence. In the absence of corroborating proof, the court could only classify this case as intentional homicide arising from emotional and debt-related issues, leading to Li Fengping's death sentence.
On August 20, 2021, the Guangxi High People's Court rejected Li Fengping's appeal and upheld the initial death sentence.
On February 23, 2023, following approval from the Supreme People's Court, Li Fengping was executed.
In conclusion, it is crucial for everyone to avoid diving into online gambling scams with dreams of overnight wealth and not to tread down the irreversible path taken by Li Fengping.
