He opened his arms and embraced Song Feiwan, inhaling her delicate fragrance, feeling his heart swell with fullness.
So many years have passed; I no longer care, and neither do you seem to take it to heart.
Song Feiwan felt a pang in her chest as she leaned against him, wrapping her arms around his strong waist. She let out a muffled sound, promising herself that she would always be there for him and would never allow him to suffer such grievances again.
Xiao Yu fell silent for a moment before breaking into a smile, reaching out to pinch her tender cheek.
"Shouldn't I be the one saying these things? Do you think it's appropriate?" he teased, his phoenix eyes sparkling with mischief.
Song Feiwan pouted. "What’s inappropriate about it? These are my true feelings."
She stood on her tiptoes and planted a soft kiss on his thin lips, gazing earnestly into his eyes, her cheeks flushed.
"To me, everyone and everything in this world combined is not as important as you. I would give up my life for you; how could I bear to let you suffer?"
Xiao Yu's eyes flickered, and he tightened his embrace around her.
"Song Feiwan, are you trying to take my life?"
"Huh?" She was puzzled.
She was merely expressing her heartfelt thoughts.
At her age, she felt utterly wronged. What was the Empress even worth to hurt him? If it weren't for Xiao Yan's death, she would have ended her own life without hesitation; she would never let that woman off the hook!
As for the Emperor, she could understand his actions but could never bring herself to like him.
Between him and Xiao Yu, she would undoubtedly choose Xiao Yu without hesitation; she would avoid the Emperor whenever possible.
Xiao Yu gazed deeply at her and softly said, "I'm no longer that child from back then. Who in this world dares to make me suffer? Only you can say things that pierce my heart."
His gaze lingered ambiguously on her rosy lips.
"However, I’ve noted your promise: you must stay by my side forever and go nowhere else."
With that, he captured Song Feiwan's lips in a passionate kiss, pouring all his affection into it.
Song Feiwan smiled and closed her eyes, surrendering to his dominance as he deepened the kiss.
After a long while, he finally released her, who was panting heavily.
Song Feiwan felt her tongue go numb and shyly shot him a glare, muttering softly, "You're much cuter when you're having one of your episodes."
"Hmm?" Xiao Yu raised an eyebrow.
She smiled sweetly and mischievously asked, "Do you remember? Back then, you used to call me 'Sister'."
"Song, Fei, Wan." His handsome face darkened slightly with irritation as he pronounced her name slowly, word by word.
"Hahaha!" Song Feiwan teased him, "Can you say it again? It sounds really nice."
"You've gone too far!"
Seeing that she had annoyed him, Song Feiwan squealed and tried to run away.
But just after taking two steps, she was pulled back into his embrace, where he punished her with deep and heavy kisses.
"Ugh! Xiao Yu, let go! I was wrong!"
Her legs felt weak as she laughed and dodged, repeatedly begging for mercy.
Xiao Yu looked at her flushed cheeks, and his heart melted into a puddle.
In the past, he had not believed in fate or destiny.
Yet now, he sincerely thanked the heavens for bringing her into his life.
She made him love deeply and feel whole.
She made him willingly offer everything he had.
Though the ends of the earth may be finite, longing knows no bounds.
