"What is our mission?"
Chi Mu Jiu furrowed her brows slightly, feeling a sense of worry creeping in. It was time to reel things in.
Du Hengyan seemed to anticipate the unfolding events. Just as he finished speaking, a series of crisp doorbell chimes echoed through the room, heralding an impending invisible storm.
He cradled the beauty in one arm while gently picking up her mask with the other, carefully placing it back on her face. The mask fit snugly against her skin, as if it were part of her, revealing only her bright and enchanting eyes.
The door slowly opened, revealing Ling Yun and several of Du Hengyan's trusted confidants standing outside.
"Boss Du, I apologize for disturbing you. Mr. Ke and a few guests cordially invite you to join their gambling game," one of the confidants said respectfully.
"When?" Chi Mu Jiu couldn't help but ask softly.
"Tonight," Ling Yun replied, her gaze falling on Chi Mu Jiu. As their eyes met, both women silently admired each other's beauty. Ling Yun's allure was as tempting as a viper, exuding the charm of a mature woman; Chi Mu Jiu's clear and captivating eyes were utterly intoxicating. Their gazes intertwined before they each looked away.
"You handle it," Du Hengyan said with a slight nod, tossing out the words before decisively shutting the door.
"Is this aimed at you?" Chi Mu Jiu seemed to realize something and immediately inquired.
"Yes. Thanks to Madam's impressive performance at the casino, they wouldn't have come knocking so soon otherwise," Du Hengyan raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a smile.
"What do you mean? Did Ke call for reinforcements?" Chi Mu Jiu's brows knitted slightly, a wave of unease washing over her.
"Call for more help if you want, but with the God of Gambling on my side, what is there to fear?"
Du Hengyan teased as he playfully poked her nose.
"Speak plainly; are they all here just to deal with you?"
Chi Mu Jiu shot him a glance, her worries not lessening. Most of these people were likely here for Du Hengyan, using the gambling event as a cover.
Although they were currently at an underground gambling house, where both sides had to consider the forces behind the games and would not act recklessly, one could never be sure that something unexpected wouldn’t happen.
"Don’t overthink it, my lady. Our people are no pushovers either," Du Hengyan said, ruffling her hair to reassure her.
However, there were more pressing matters at hand. A glimmer of mystery flashed in his eyes as he swept Chi Mu Jiu into his arms and strode into the bathroom, saying with a hint of frustration, "The medicinal bath needs to be prepared in advance; tonight is bound to be a sleepless night."
The bathroom was filled with a faint herbal fragrance, and the warm air enveloped them in a comforting embrace.
"I can undress myself," she protested.
"My lady doesn’t allow me to touch or even look? It’s hard for me to endure when you want everything but don’t want anything at all," he replied, his voice low and raspy.
As the door clicked shut and locked, warm steam began to fill the space, blurring their vision but adding an ethereal beauty to the scene. The sound of her soft gasps echoed in the mist, almost responding to Du Hengyan’s intense gaze.
The mingling sounds of water and her delicate cries wove together a captivating picture that stirred the imagination.
"Du Hengyan!" she exclaimed in playful anger, trying to resist his advances.
"I’ll help my lady with a massage if she helps me in return," he suggested, his voice now husky.
"My lady must hold on tight."
"What's with the wolfish words?"
"Be good, and I'll try not to touch you."
