The Elf's eyes sharpened as it observed, "That door is quite unusual. Both the symbols and the gems indicate that it is closely tied to the secrets of this place." There was a hint of caution in its tone. "We must proceed carefully."
Evan took a deep breath, his heart racing. He stepped forward and reached out to push the door. However, it did not budge easily, as if held fast by some unseen force. Just as he prepared to exert more effort, the Elf's voice rang in his ear, "Wait a moment, Evan."
Evan halted his actions and turned to the Elf. "What is it?"
The Elf approached the door slowly, bending down to examine the symbols etched upon it. "I've seen these symbols before. They belong to an ancient language that records certain taboos of this place." It spoke softly, "If we open this door directly, we might trigger some kind of mechanism."
"A mechanism?" Evan was taken aback. "Are you saying there’s danger behind this door?"
The Elf's eyes flickered with a complex emotion. "Danger is certain, but we cannot back down. If we can decipher these symbols, perhaps we can find a way to open this door."
Evan nodded, determination settling in his heart. "Alright, let’s decipher these symbols together."
The two stood side by side before the door, scrutinizing the symbols on the frame. Although the Elf claimed to have seen them before, it did not immediately reveal their meanings. Evan had to rely on his own intuition and gradually began to notice a pattern among the symbols.
"These symbols..." Evan murmured, "they seem to describe a process—a transition from darkness to light."
The Elf's eyes brightened slightly. "You're right. They may represent some kind of revelation. Perhaps we need to find a specific combination to activate this door."
Evan closed his eyes, focusing intently as he tried to unravel the meanings behind the symbols. Suddenly, a series of thoughts flashed through his mind; it seemed that those symbols could only unlock the hidden mechanism in a particular order.
"I got it!" Evan exclaimed softly. "It’s like this: first press these symbols, then turn this gem counterclockwise."
The Elf stood upright, its tail swaying gently without conscious thought. "Give it a try."
Following his instincts, Aiven cautiously pressed the symbols and slowly rotated the gemstone. As the gemstone began to turn, Aiven felt a powerful vibration, and soon, the wooden door emitted a heavy creaking sound before slowly opening.
"We did it!" Aiven exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief and excitement.
The Elf looked down at the slowly opening door, its expression complex. "This is just the beginning. We don't know what lies behind the door, but we have no way back now."
Aiven's mood grew heavy. He understood that every step forward could be fraught with unknown dangers, but he had no choice. They had come this far, and no matter what, they had to continue onward.
As they stepped through the door, Aiven's heart raced at the sight before him. This was not just a simple room; it was a vast underground hall. The walls were lined with more books than he had ever seen, but unlike the library outside, the bookshelves here were unlike any he had encountered before. Their surfaces shimmered with a blue glow, as if responding to their presence.
At the center of the hall floated a massive crystal orb, radiating dazzling light that seemed to condense the power of the entire universe.
"What is this place?" Aiven's voice nearly lost its focus.
The Elf whispered, "This is the entrance to the 'Source Point'; all secrets are hidden here."
Aiven felt a storm of emotions surge within him. He realized that every second from now on would alter their fate forever.
