Evan and Elf exchanged a glance before finally following along. The sights of the city continued to dazzle them, with buildings suspended like floating islands among the clouds, layered and intricately intertwined. Regardless, there was no turning back; the Armored Man before them might provide the clues or deeper insights they needed. 0

Following a winding path, they trailed behind the Armored Man into a massive palace. The exterior walls of the palace were covered in ancient runes, and the enormous doors were adorned with carvings of soaring figures that glimmered faintly in the sunlight. With each step closer, Evan's heartbeat intensified, as if the palace itself concealed an indescribable power. 0

The Armored Man pushed open the grand doors, leading them into a magnificent hall. In the center of the hall stood a colossal and ancient altar, upon which rested a shimmering crystal. The core of the crystal seemed to harbor some form of energy, pulsating with a powerful aura. 0

"This is the Flying Heart," the Armored Man spoke in a low voice. "Legend has it that this crystal is the source of the Sky Empire, controlling the buoyancy and strength of the entire city. It is not merely an object; it carries countless destinies and secrets." 0

Evan stepped forward, gazing intently at the crystal. His heart raced as if its radiance could directly touch some deep part of his soul, bringing an indescribable sense of awe. 0

"Its power is immense; we must be cautious," Elf warned softly. "This force may be more dangerous than the Dark Wings." 0

The Armored Man nodded slightly. "The power of the Flying Heart is not limitless; it manifests differently depending on the holder's mindset and desires. Are you prepared to face the trials of this city?" 0

Evan's gaze hardened. "I am ready." 0

The Armored Man acknowledged him with a nod and slowly approached the crystal, extending his finger to gently touch its surface. Instantly, the crystal emitted a blinding light, causing the entire palace to tremble as the air around them grew heavy. Evan and Elf instinctively took a step back, their hearts racing. 0

"Is this... a test?" Evan asked nervously. 0

The Armored Man did not respond but stood there, his eyes fixed on the crystal. Suddenly, a beam of light flickered from within the crystal, illuminating the entire hall as if traversing through time itself, transporting Evan and Elf's consciousness into another realm. 0

Before them lay a blank expanse that gradually revealed a vast cityscape, all buildings suspended in mid-air with clouds flowing between them. Evan realized this was the legendary Flying City, and they stood at its center before a palace more magnificent than anything they could have imagined. The palace seemed endless, its spires piercing the heavens, while strange runes embedded in its massive stone walls shimmered with an ethereal glow. Surrounding the palace were numerous floating structures that hovered in mid-air like marvelous devices attached to nothing but air itself; it was as if some mysterious force sustained the entire city. 0

Aiven and Elf were stunned by the sudden sight before them, almost forgetting to breathe. Their hearts raced at the grandeur and incredibility of the aerial city. Aiven felt as if his very being was drawn by the ancient power of this city, a mix of excitement and trepidation swirling within him. 0

"This really is the Flying City..." Aiven murmured, confusion and disbelief filling his eyes. 0

"What you see is the former glory of this city," the Armored Man spoke coldly, breaking the stunned silence. His voice echoed through the air like a deep-sea resonance. "The Flying City was once a magnificent empire, its greatness not only reflected in its aerial architecture but also in the power it wielded—a power capable of altering the rules of the world. However, its decline was brought about by the disaster known as the 'Dark Wing.'" 0

"The Dark Wing..." Aiven furrowed his brow. "Was it its power that destroyed this city?" 0

The Armored Man nodded, his gaze profound. "Yes. The Dark Wing is an ancient entity; its power extends beyond mere darkness—it can alter the fundamental rules of existence and consume everything. The Flying City was once among its targets. It destroyed the core of this city—the Flying Heart—causing it to lose balance, leading to its erratic floating and eventual collapse." 0

Aiven looked down at the crystal suspended in mid-air, feeling an indescribable weight emanating from it. "Does the Flying Heart still exist now?" 0

The Armored Man sighed deeply. "The power of the Flying Heart still lingers, but it is no longer pure as it once was. It has been tainted by the power of the Dark Wing and has become unstable. Without the right person to guide it, this city may once again face collapse, potentially triggering even greater disasters." 0

At that moment, Elf approached the crystal and gently touched its surface with a claw. The crystal emitted a low, resonant tremor as if responding to its touch. "It... is indeed no longer a simple source of power," Elf whispered. "It is mixed with too much darkness; if we cannot purify it, everything may repeat itself." 0
