There was also another place to check—the hospital where Zheng Mengni was born. She needed to find out which other children were born there on the same day as her.
She could investigate the welfare institute herself, but not the hospital. If Zheng Mengni approached a doctor for records, that person would likely notice her name on the list of babies born that day. If the doctor caught on to something unusual, there was no guarantee they would keep quiet.
Therefore, she needed someone unrelated to her to conduct the inquiry.

The next day at noon, in a top-tier hospital room, Wei Jingxi lounged on his bed with his legs crossed, half-reclined while playing games on his tablet. Without headphones, the chaotic sounds of battle and screams mixed with eerie music buzzed in his ears.
He found the hospital gown uncomfortable and had instructed his driver yesterday to bring him an entire suitcase filled with clothes, shoes, and accessories. He had lied to Zheng Mengni about his injuries being severe, claiming he would need at least a week before he could be discharged. She was just finishing school; in a few hours, she would come to visit him at the hospital.
At that time, he would charm her with a few sweet words, and those two days over the weekend would belong entirely to him. With this thought in mind, Wei Jingxi clicked faster on the screen, treating the game as if it were that ill-fated wild dog from yesterday. If it hadn't been for Zheng Mengni's timely message, he wouldn't have had the chance to vent his frustrations.
After finishing a game round, Wei Jingxi felt ravenous and shouted towards the door, "Where's my food?"
His assistant hurriedly pushed the door open and bowed respectfully. "It started raining early this morning; the airlift for food supplies has been delayed. Your lunch is still being prepared in the kitchen and may take a little while longer."
