Wei Jingxi quickly pushed Zheng Mengni away, covering his mouth as he bent over to the side and sneezed three times in a row. Realizing something was off, Zheng Mengni hurriedly grabbed the flowers from the bedside and rushed to the bathroom to throw them away, shutting the door behind her. 0

Wei Jingxi felt his eyes, nose, and ears becoming increasingly itchy. Coupled with an existing wound, scratching only made him feel worse. 0

Zheng Mengni quickly grasped his hand. "Don't scratch; you might leave a scar." 0

He continued to scratch, fully aware that it could leave a mark. He was merely using the itchiness as an excuse to cover his face; after all, the rash from pollen allergies was far too unsightly, and he didn't want Zheng Mengni to see it. 0

He felt frustrated; keeping the flowers would lead to an allergic reaction and make him look bad, but throwing them away would upset Zheng Mengni. It was truly a difficult situation. 0

No matter how she tried, Zheng Mengni couldn't pry his hand away and reluctantly released it before leaving the room. With her already lacking confidence in their relationship, if his looks were also subpar, she would find it hard to justify accepting this marriage. 0

"Just hold on; I'll call a doctor." 0

Within two minutes, an assistant, a bodyguard, and a nurse followed Zheng Mengni into the room. 0

Wei Jingxi covered his face and lowered his head; even his exposed arm had developed a line of red rashes. He resisted scratching, fearing that if he let go of his hand, Zheng Mengni would see his ugly face. 0

The doctor approached the bedside. "Can you let go of your hand for a moment? I need to check your condition." 0

Without lifting his head, Wei Jingxi instructed, "Go to your left." 0

The doctor was puzzled. "I just need to take a look and prescribe some medication." 0

Irritated, Wei Jingxi replied, "It's just an allergy; there are only so many medications for that. Just prescribe something!" 0

The doctor suppressed his frustration and calmly said, "I'm a doctor; I have to be responsible for every patient. You already have wounds on your face, and you've been scratching for so long. I need to check if there's any inflammation." 0

Wei Jingxi snapped back impatiently, "I didn't scratch! No way!" 0

Zheng Mengni stepped forward gently. "I'm sorry, doctor; he's feeling unwell and is in a low mood. Let me talk to him for a moment." 0

Wei Jingxi remained silent as Zheng Mengni softly held his wrist. "Can you move your hand so the doctor can take a look?" 0

"It's hideous; there's nothing to see. Just let him prescribe something for the allergy," he thought. 0

Zheng Mengni sighed in resignation and leaned down close to Wei Jingxi's ear, whispering softly, "The marks on your face won't disappear immediately after taking medicine. During this time, are you really not going to look at me?" 0

She was so close that he could sense her calming presence—a soothing fragrance reminiscent of body wash or perhaps the lingering scent of long-used essential oils. It was far more pleasant than the floral scent that had triggered his allergy earlier. 0

Wei Jingxi's gaze became dazed as he couldn't help but inhale her scent. The fire ignited during their earlier kiss still lingered within him. However, the crowd surrounding them felt overwhelmingly intrusive; he needed them to leave quickly so they wouldn't disrupt his moment with Zheng Mengni. 0

Wei Jingxi slowly loosened his grip, hesitantly lifting his swollen eyelid to glance at Zheng Mengni. The girl maintained a gentle smile, offering him heartfelt comfort. 0

"Come here." As Wei Jingxi's gaze shifted to the others, a visible annoyance flickered in his eyes. 0

The doctor approached and conducted a quick examination before writing out a prescription. He instructed the nurse to fetch the medicine, then turned to Zheng Mengni with a serious tone, saying, "It's best not to bring fresh flowers when visiting patients in the hospital. This is a single-occupancy room. If it were a regular ward, there's always the chance that another patient might be allergic to pollen, and no one can predict that." 0

Zheng Mengni nodded obediently, "I understand. Next time, I'll bring tissue flowers." 0

The anger that had just subsided within Wei Jingxi flared up again as he glared at the doctor with increasing disdain. 0

"I don't even know I'm allergic to pollen; how would she know? Don't be jealous just because I have someone sending me flowers while you don't. Just do your job and stop lecturing me." 0

Zheng Mengni quickly intervened, smiling as she pulled the doctor aside. "Doctor, could you explain how to take this medicine? Should it be before or after meals, and how many times a day?" 0

The doctor nodded and walked with Zheng Mengni to the side. 0

Wei Jingxi's eyes were fixed on Zheng Mengni's hand as it grasped the doctor's sleeve, his fists clenched tightly, making a creaking sound. 0

The assistant nearby hesitated before speaking up. "Young Master, when did you not know you were allergic to pollen? Knowing it could cause an allergy yet allowing Miss Zheng to place flowers by your bedside—could it be a ploy to get her to agree to an early engagement?" 0

"Wow, when did you become so clever, Young Master?" 0
