Two days ago, the doctor conducted a full-body examination on Ye Bingran, ensuring that all health indicators were normal before processing his discharge. Ye Bingran coldly smiled as he realized the crux of the problem. He had his hands in everything, even the doctor was an insider planted by him.
Aside from Tan Yan, he truly couldn't think of anyone else who could be so bored and so malicious. That night, Ye Bingran fainted from pain, slipping into a shallow sleep in a daze. When he woke up the next day, it was already three in the afternoon.
The Zheng Family was usually very busy, managing countless affairs, leaving the vast villa with only Ye Bingran and a group of servants and bodyguards. He sat alone at the dining table, lacking appetite, mechanically bringing food to his mouth as if completing a task, his movements incredibly stiff.
Suddenly, the door opened, and two servants came in carrying a box. Ye Bingran casually asked, "What is this?"
The servants set down the box and replied, "It's Miss Zheng Mengni's belongings that she left in the hospital during her stay with you. We just brought it over."
Ye Bingran squinted, his gaze fixated on the box for a long time without moving. He reached out and slightly lifted his phone resting on the table, its black screen reflecting a face he wasn't familiar with and hadn't fully adjusted to yet. After coming here, he rarely looked in the mirror, fearing he might forget his original appearance.
Ye Bingran slowly gestured with his hand, "Let me take a look."
The servant complied; inside the box were a pile of paintings. The person depicted in the paintings looked exactly like the shadow on his phone screen—wearing an oxygen mask, looking sickly.
"Did my sister paint this?" Ye Bingran asked with an intriguing smile.
The servant nodded, "Yes, while taking care of you, she spent her time painting in the hospital room."
Ye Bingran remained unfazed and replied casually, "I'll keep it for her; I'll return it when she comes back."
Meanwhile, Zheng Mengni had left early and was heading to the hot spring resort according to Wei Jingxi's plan.
The latter let out a dazed "ah," realizing he had brought his most alluring swimsuit with him, and besides, he had promised last night without hesitation. However, Wei Jingxi dared not argue; Xiao Ni could think whatever she wanted, and he had no right to voice any objections. He had to calmly accept Xiao Ni's habit of being fickle.
Wei Jingxi silently reassured himself that it was alright. After all, Xiao Ni had seen him completely naked before; why should he care about a newly bought swimsuit? His gloomy mood dissipated quickly, especially since Zheng Mengni casually mentioned visiting his place.
But it wasn't the Wei Family residence; it was the spacious riverside penthouse that Wei Jingxi owned off-campus. Each of his properties was meticulously prepared with a children's room because he genuinely believed he would marry Zheng Mengni, a thought that had never changed.
He knew Zheng Mengni loved to paint, so the Art Studio was equipped with everything one could need, all high-end supplies. Zheng Mengni stood in front of her easel, wearing a fitted spaghetti strap dress. Her black hair was pinned back, revealing her delicate neck and shoulders, her curves soft and her skin like fine jade.
On her wrist was a champagne-colored watch adorned with diamonds, sparkling elegantly. Her slender fingers held a paintbrush as she turned to him with a sweet smile. "Wei Jingxi, let me paint a picture of you."
"Sure!" His bright eyes darkened slightly as he happily asked, "How do you want to paint it?" He always responded without questioning the reason behind her requests.
Zheng Mengni softly countered, "Then how do you want to be painted?"
Wei Jingxi's tone deepened as he earnestly said, "But I don't look good in this outfit; it might affect your creativity."
"Well, I got up at six this morning to get ready," she replied.
This was the first time Wei Jingxi had ever doubted his fashion sense and aesthetic. Zheng Mengni slightly lifted her chin as if to critique him.
Wei Jingxi took her response as approval. Although he felt a bit downcast, he wouldn’t allow himself to be unhappy. He casually said, "Should I take it off then?"
Zheng Mengni tilted her head with a bright smile. "Sure!"
On the sofa lay the clothes Wei Jingxi had just taken off, carrying a cool fragrance that was understated compared to previous occasions.
The air conditioning was set to the most comfortable temperature, and despite wearing nothing at all, Wei Jingxi felt as if he was about to faint from the heat.
Xiao Ni's gaze was so intense, it felt like fire. Wei Jingxi discreetly glanced down at the less-than-reliable Xiao Wei, feeling a sudden urge to close his legs. The latter seemed to pick up on his unspoken cue and immediately straightened up.
Zheng Mengni tilted her head as she watched him, her voice soft and gentle. Lost in his own thoughts, Wei Jingxi shivered slightly. He looked up, bewildered, letting out a small sound of confusion.
This was bad; Xiao Ni didn't like models who fidgeted. He shouldn't have been looking down aimlessly at certain areas.
Zheng Mengni sighed in exasperation, murmuring softly, "Can you please stay still? My drawings are inconsistent now."
Wei Jingxi's face flushed crimson as he quickly realized what Zheng Mengni was hinting at. His fair skin turned increasingly pink. He let out an "oh," his gaze becoming more dazed.
Without lifting her head, Zheng Mengni continued to sketch the smooth and beautiful lines of Wei Jingxi's muscles with her pencil. She asked, "Have you been working out lately?"
"Yes," he replied, thinking it should be obvious by now. Ever since Zheng Mengni had bluntly pointed out that Tan Yan's skills were lacking, Wei Jingxi had never dared to slack off again; he made sure to hit the gym regularly. He was afraid that he might be the next one to be criticized.
However, opportunities are always reserved for those who are prepared. He had invited Zheng Mengni to the hot springs partly to show off his hard work in fitness. He did showcase it, but perhaps a bit too thoroughly. The setting was not what he had initially planned.
Still, he felt happy regardless. Even if they did nothing else but bask in Xiao Ni's gentle gaze, he felt as if he were floating on air.
