Zheng Mengni was writing a summary while dialing a phone call to Shen Die. She was multitasking, maximizing her time, as she had many things to do ahead.
"Xiao Die, are you busy?"
"No, go ahead."
Zheng Mengni got straight to the point: "I heard your boyfriend is in the Student Union's External Relations Department."
"Yes, why?" Shen Die replied. "I haven't introduced you two yet, but he's really handsome. Since you're both in the Student Union, you should have some impression of him."
"I do. You have good taste. The candidates this time are indeed good-looking, one of them resembles a recently popular star."
"You're exaggerating. Stop flattering him and just tell me what you need."
Zheng Mengni smiled: "There's something I need to ask. The Student Union is having a gathering this weekend at Xi Hai. But I have something else to attend to, so could you please go in the name of family?"
Shen Die had heard about the Xi Tuan election and immediately understood what was going on. She couldn't help but laugh: "Even for something like this, they need to make a big deal out of it? These people are taking it too seriously. It's just a Student Union, not a board of directors."
But as soon as she thought about Zheng Mengni also running for election, she quickly stopped laughing: "I absolutely didn't mean to imply you're a mere pawn in this! No worries, I've got this covered. It's just campaigning; I'll take care of the drinks in your name. I’ve never lost when it comes to showing off like that—I'll publicly put them in their place for you."
Zheng Mengni softly replied: "I don't want to campaign."
"If you don't campaign, aren't you afraid of losing?"
Zheng Mengni didn't answer directly and continued: "But we do need to cover the drinks. I'll arrange for more supplies. As for you, use your charm to liven things up and make sure everyone has a good time."
"I get it! It's just about having fun with them; that's my favorite part! But speaking of which, there are quite a few party animals in your Student Union. Every time they organize something, I see plenty of familiar faces. They probably won't need me to pour drinks; they'll drink themselves silly!"
Zheng Mengni smiled without saying anything.
Shen Die wondered: "But the gathering is on Saturday; it shouldn't affect much."
Zheng Mengni restrained her smile a bit: "You don't need to worry about that; I'll find a way to change the gathering to Sunday. The final election is just around the corner next week, and he needs to treat everyone well this week—after all, winning hearts isn't easy."
Before school ended, Sun Yongqing received a call from Handler informing him that the Giant Cruise Ship he had booked needed urgent repairs due to some operational issues, and the schedule needed to be changed to the day after tomorrow.
Sun Yongqing patiently asked if there were any other Giant Cruise Ships available for rent at a similar price or with better amenities.
The Handler said there were no options left, only the standard ones. He wore a grim expression, threatening to lodge a formal complaint against Zong Si. Knowing that a group was supposed to charter the boat, he questioned why repairs hadn’t been done in advance.
The Handler explained that such maintenance was scheduled on an annual basis. He reiterated that this was a last-minute situation. No one could guarantee an unexpected breakdown; all they could do was wait for a day and offer partial compensation for the breach of contract.
Sun Yongqing didn’t care about the money; he calmed himself and began weighing the pros and cons. It was too late to find another boat, and lowering the standard wasn’t as good as changing the date. Losing trust was better than disappointing everyone; a promise of a grand banquet must not be taken lightly.
If he were to spend more money to find another option, it would only draw his parents' attention, which would be even more troublesome. If they opposed him forming alliances, even if it was just for a student council at school, it would be disastrous.
Thus, the date was changed to Sunday. In the group chat, some wealthy second-generation members immediately declared they wouldn’t go, calling it a waste of time and effort. Who hadn’t been to the Cruise Banquet? Why would they care about Sun Yongqing’s old boat?
Left with no choice, Sun Yongqing had to brainstorm new ideas for the banquet activities, adding more exciting and engaging entertainment to capture their attention. After much discussion in the group chat, with persuasive arguments and heartfelt appeals, he finally managed to convince everyone to board the boat.
If there were issues during the school elections, how could he expect to navigate his future smoothly? Sun Yongqing made a silent vow: his plan could not fail.
