Zeus breathed heavily, gazing at Yun Li's flushed cheeks and dreamy eyes. Unable to resist, he gently placed a kiss on his forehead.
Yun Li's fair forehead was tinged with a faint blush from the kiss, resembling a peach blossom blooming in spring.
Zeus softly caressed Yun Li's cheek and asked, "Do you understand what kind of feelings I have for you now?"
After a moment of regaining his composure, Yun Li lowered his head and said softly, "Zeus, I know you care for me, but you are kind to everyone. I might just be one of the lucky ones. You could just be acting on impulse; once you calm down, you'll see clearly. Besides, you said we were just friends..."
Hearing this, Zeus became anxious. "Xiao Li, back then, I truly didn’t think about it that way..."
Yun Li's voice was muffled as he covered Zeus's mouth with his hand. "Let me finish. You said not to get too close; we're just friends. Otherwise, we might not even have that friendship left. You promised... I don’t want to lose even that."
Yun Li's voice grew quieter, his eyes reddening as tears unexpectedly rolled down his cheeks, soaking into his clothes and spreading a damp stain.
Seeing Yun Li like this broke Zeus's heart. The words he had spoken months ago now echoed painfully in his mind: "I was confused back then; I didn’t recognize my own feelings. I admit I was foolish for not understanding my emotions for you and for saying those ridiculous things. But now I truly understand—my feelings for you are not a fleeting impulse but the accumulation of countless moments over time. I know my past mistakes made you feel insecure; I didn’t take care of your feelings properly. But I beg you, don’t reject me because of my past foolishness. Give me three months—just three months—to make up for my mistakes and to show you how much I love and care for you. I promise that during these three months, I will wholeheartedly dedicate myself to you, allowing you to see that I have completely changed and will never make you feel sad or scared again. Xiao Li, please believe me this time."
Yun Li turned his head away, wiping away his tears with his hand. After a long silence, he bit his lip as if summoning courage and spoke with a slight tremor in his voice: "Zeus, my heart is in turmoil; I don’t know if I should trust you. But... I'm willing to take this last step with you. This is my final gamble; I hope you won’t let me down."
Zeus joyfully pulled Yun Li into his embrace. "Alright, in these three months, I'll show you my true heart."
Burying his head in Yun Li’s neck, Zeus inhaled the faint scent of soap on him. He felt himself relax completely as the fatigue from a long night washed over him, making him drowsy as he leaned against Yun Li.
Sensing the weight on him, Yun Li turned to look at Zeus. "Are you tired? Should I book a hotel for you to rest?"
Instantly alert, Zeus tightened his arms around Yun Li’s waist and said pitifully, "No way, Xiao Li! I'm really exhausted; going to a hotel now would be too much trouble. Look at me—I rushed over without bringing anything! What if my phone dies and you can’t reach me? And it’s not safe for me to go alone."
Yun Li frowned slightly and tried to push him away. "That won’t do; it’s not convenient here."
Zeus wouldn’t let go and continued to plead playfully, "What’s inconvenient about it? I promise I'll behave and won’t cause any trouble. Xiao Li, can you really bear to throw me out?"
Yun Li let out a helpless sigh, "But..."
Zeus quickly interrupted him, "Yun Li, you see how far I traveled just to see you today? My legs are practically giving out. If you make me go to a hotel, my heart will break."
Yun Li hesitated, "But..."
Seizing the moment, Zeus looked at Yun Li with sincere eyes, "Yun Li, I’ll only stay for one night. I’ll leave first thing in the morning, okay? I just want to sleep next to you for a bit."
After a long moment of contemplation, Yun Li glanced at Zeus’s dark circles and disheveled appearance and felt his resolve soften. "Alright, tonight you can sleep on the sofa."
Zeus instantly broke into a wide smile. "Great! As long as I can be here with you, I’m fine with anywhere."
Yun Li's face flushed as he avoided Zeus's gaze. "I’ll go find you some clothes to change into."
He hurried into his room and rummaged through the wardrobe but couldn't find anything suitable. Since Zeus was much taller than him, even his clothes seemed too short for Zeus. As Yun Li's eyes darted around the room, they suddenly landed on a blue and white coral fleece koala robe. It was long enough to reach his knees, complete with two pockets and a hood shaped like a koala's head. Covering his face in embarrassment, Yun Li wondered how he could explain this. Whenever he saw a koala, it reminded him of Zeus because that was his spirit animal. He would unconsciously buy anything cute that featured koalas, including this set of pajamas he had bought on a whim. But now, handing it over to Zeus felt like a public execution! Oh no, who could save him from this embarrassment?
Ultimately left with no choice, Yun Li shyly emerged from the room holding the robe. "You can wear this for now. You probably haven’t eaten anything yet, so I’ll go get you some food." After saying that, he dashed out of the apartment so quickly that it was as if no one could catch him.
Zeus looked at the robe in his hands and then at Yun Li’s rapidly disappearing figure, a smile creeping onto his lips. He thought to himself, this kid is just as adorable as ever.
Yun Li jogged all the way to a nearby convenience store. He lingered in front of the shelves, still imagining what Zeus would look like in that robe and couldn’t help but chuckle softly. After picking up some food, he suddenly remembered that Zeus didn’t have any clean underwear; he couldn’t expect him to keep wearing what he had on. Blushing furiously, Yun Li picked up his phone and dialed Zeus’s number.
"Zeus, what’s your underwear size?" Yun Li's voice came out a bit rushed.
On the other end of the line, Zeus chuckled mischievously. "What’s this? So concerned about me?"
Yun Li replied impatiently, "Stop joking around and just tell me!"
Only then did Zeus reveal his size.
Yun Li hurriedly bought what he needed and rushed back home.
As Yun Li opened the door, he was instantly flushed by the sight before him. Zeus, freshly washed, was strategically wrapped in a bathrobe that hung loosely, exposing a large expanse of his chest. Water dripped from his hair, cascading down to his collarbone and slowly sliding down.
Yun Li's face burned instantly, feeling a rush of heat surge to his nose. He quickly turned his head away, not daring to look at Zeus. "W-What are you doing like this?"
Zeus approached Yun Li with an innocent expression. "My hair isn't dry yet, and I couldn't find the hairdryer. I was afraid of getting this robe wet. Since you're back, could you please find the hairdryer for me? I’ll dry my hair and then change into something else."
Hearing this, Yun Li flusteredly placed his things on the table and fumbled through the cabinet for the hairdryer, not daring to lift his head. After handing the hairdryer to Zeus, he intended to turn and leave.
But Zeus grabbed his hand firmly. "Don't go; help me dry my hair."
Yun Li's heart raced at that moment. After a moment's hesitation, he slowly turned back around. He took the hairdryer, and as his fingers accidentally brushed against Zeus's hair, it felt as if an electric current surged through him.
Yun Li carefully dried Zeus's hair, his eyes avoiding any wandering glances. Zeus had his eyes slightly closed, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
The room was eerily quiet, save for the hum of the hairdryer. Yun Li's breathing became somewhat rapid as he struggled to calm himself.
Finally, the hair was dry. Just as Yun Li was about to set down the hairdryer, Zeus suddenly grasped his hand. "Xiao Li, do you know? At this moment, I wish time could stand still."
Yun Li's face flushed again. "Stop saying such things."
Zeus leaned closer to Yun Li. "Xiao Li, I—"
Just then, Yun Li's phone rang unexpectedly, shattering the intimate atmosphere. Seizing the opportunity like a lifeline, Yun Li quickly pulled away from Zeus and answered the call.
Zeus smiled helplessly but secretly vowed to make Yun Li truly accept him.
Yun Li answered the phone; it was a friend inviting him out to hang out. He glanced at Zeus and said into the phone, "Not really convenient today; let's do it another time." After hanging up, Yun Li looked at Zeus with a hint of embarrassment.
Zeus smiled but said nothing. After they finished eating, the afternoon sun lazily poured into the room.
Yun Li looked at Zeus, who appeared weary, and softened his heart, saying, "Why don’t you take a nap on my bed?"
Zeus happily lay down on the bed. The warm afternoon sunlight streamed through the window. However, once he lay down, sleep eluded him. He recalled how Yun Li would read English to his sisters during live streams to help them sleep, and jealousy stirred within him as he began to act coy.
"Xiao Li, you always read English to your sisters to help them sleep. I want that too! I don’t care; you have to stay with me and read to me. If they have it, I want even more."
Yun Li shot him an exasperated glance. "Can you not be so childish?"
Zeus tugged at Yun Li's shirt hem, looking pitiful as he said, "Xiao Li, please! Just indulge me."
Unable to resist him, Yun Li sat on the edge of the bed and softly began to read in English. Zeus closed his eyes, a smile creeping onto his face as he felt content. Yun Li's voice was clean and soothing, like sparkling water on a summer day—refreshing and light. Accompanied by such gentle sounds, Zeus's eyelids gradually grew heavy.
Noticing that Zeus seemed to have fallen asleep, Yun Li's gaze unconsciously drifted to his face. The well-defined features, the high nose bridge, and the slightly closed eyes made Yun Li's heart flutter. He slowly reached out his hand, gently tracing Zeus's outline from his forehead down to his chin. When his fingers brushed against Zeus's cheek, an unusual sensation surged within Yun Li.
At that moment, Zeus suddenly grabbed his hand and pulled Yun Li into the blanket with him. Zeus continued to pretend to be asleep but held Yun Li tightly in his embrace. Startled at first, Yun Li's face flushed instantly as he tried to break free. "Zeus, let go of me." However, Zeus's arms were as strong as iron clamps.
After struggling several times without success, Yun Li finally gave up and allowed Zeus to hold him. In the warm cocoon of blankets, he could clearly hear Zeus's heartbeat, which made his own pulse quicken involuntarily. Time passed unmeasured as Yun Li gradually relaxed in this warmth and unknowingly drifted off into slumber.
Sunlight filtered through the window, casting a soft glow over the two of them; the entire room was filled with warmth and tranquility.
