He pushed me away, saying, "Go wash the dishes."
I hurriedly gathered the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them.
After finishing, I came out to find him sitting on the sofa smoking. I walked over and squatted down to massage his legs.
"Please don't be angry anymore. I'll be good from now on; I promise I won't upset you again."
His sorrowful eyes looked at me, and he spoke sincerely, "I don't want to treat you this way. I'm just so afraid of losing you."
I remembered a novel I had read where a wife was abused by her husband. While he was asleep, she stabbed his kidney with a surgical knife and then calmly called the police, saying she intended to kill him. After receiving help from the police, she filed for divorce and underwent a sterilization procedure. Later, she married a doctor and lived happily ever after.
Could I do the same?
I quickly dismissed that thought; I had no medical skills, and if I stabbed in the wrong place, I could end up dead myself—definitely not worth it.
Right now, the most important thing was how to contact the outside world. All my communication tools had been confiscated, and my computer was locked in the study.
Moreover, Ma Shan was watching me constantly.
What could I do?
Suddenly, I remembered an old phone that I had hidden in the bedroom cabinet. It still had pictures of me and Ma Shan during our happy times together. He had wanted to throw it away, but I couldn't bear to part with it, so I secretly kept it.
If I could find that phone, I could call for help or even contact my parents to come rescue me.
The next day, I woke up early as usual to make breakfast. Ma Shan leisurely ate his sandwich, and after finishing a glass of milk, he wiped his mouth and said, “You seem a bit different today.”
“What’s different?”
“I can’t quite put my finger on it,” he replied, studying me closely. “I just feel like you’re planning something.”
I forced a smile. “What could I possibly plan?”
“Are you thinking about running away?”
“I’m not! I really wouldn’t dare.”
He pinched my face lightly. “If you dare to run, I’ll break your legs.”
“I won’t run away. I’ve thought about it, and I want to stick with you for life. Just don’t dislike me.”
His expression softened significantly. “I won’t dislike you.”
I hesitantly asked, “Can I clean the room later?”
“Don’t you clean it every day?”
“I want to reorganize things a bit.”
His gaze sharpened as he looked at me. “Are you looking for something?”
I bit my lip and cautiously replied, “I’m trying to find my old phone.”
“What do you need it for?”
“It has our memories from when we were in love. I want to keep it close.”
A slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Alright, go ahead.”
I sighed in relief and went to the kitchen to grab a broom. Suddenly, Ma Shan walked over and snatched the broom from my hands. “From now on, you’re not allowed to leave me.”
“I won’t leave you. I still want to have children with you.”
His gaze softened. "If I ask you to have a child, would you?"
"Of course I would," I replied with a smile.
He chuckled softly and patted my head. "Good."
He handed me a broom. "Go on and get to work."
I took the broom and entered the bedroom, closing the door behind me.
There were no cameras in the room, so I could search for my phone without worry.
I turned the bedroom upside down but couldn't find my phone.
Could I have remembered it wrong?
I went to the study and had just opened the door when Ma Shan appeared behind me. "Looking for your phone? How did you end up in the study?"
